Akshay Kumar’s film Khel Khel Mein struggled to make a significant impact at the box office. Released on August 15, the film faced stiff competition from two major releases, Stree 2 and Veda. Unfortunately, both films overshadowed Khel Khel Mein, leading to its lackluster performance.

Despite positive reviews, the film’s director, Mudassar Aziz, has finally opened up about its underwhelming box office numbers. According to Aziz, the timing of the release played a crucial role in the film’s struggle. Competing with Stree 2, which dominated the box office, Khel Khel Mein failed to attract a large audience, resulting in a collection of only ₹30 crores.

Aziz explained that understanding the film required a certain level of maturity and intelligence, which may have been lacking in some viewers. He pointed out that the WhatsApp group created during the film’s shooting is still active, with the team expressing disappointment over the film’s reception.

The director reflected on the changing dynamics of movie-going audiences, particularly those aged between 15 and 30, who often view films as events rather than just entertainment. He emphasized that Khel Khel Mein addressed complex themes like relationships and marriage, which required a more mature audience to fully appreciate.

When questioned about the film’s marketing and its grand promotional events, Aziz chose not to delve into that aspect. Instead, he urged discussions to focus on the choice of story, economic strata, and audience maturity rather than just marketing strategies.
