Don’t Be Shy Trailer: Alia Bhatt Coming-of-Age Rom-Com Gets Young Love Right

The Don’t Be Shy trailer introduces Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal in a coming-of-age story about first love, friendship, heartbreak and the confusing journey into adulthood.

Prime Video has released the Don’t Be Shy Trailer, giving audiences a first look at its upcoming young adult romantic comedy. Produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt, the film revolves around love, friendship, heartbreak and the unpredictable choices that come with growing up.

Directed and written by Sreeti Mukerji, the film features four newcomers in the lead roles — Aarushi Bajaj, Piyush Khati, Bianca Arora and Ansh Duggal. The supporting cast includes Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik.

The film is scheduled to premiere on Prime Video on September 25, 2026, in Hindi with English subtitles. It will also be available across more than 240 countries and territories.

Aarushi Bajaj Plays Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das

The Don’t Be Shy Trailer centres on Shyamili Das, played by Aarushi Bajaj. Known as Shy, she is introduced as a confident young woman who believes she has her future completely planned.

However, her carefully organised life starts falling apart after an unexpected turn in her relationship. Her boyfriend Mayank, played by Piyush Khati, suddenly breaks up with her after they have been together for three years.

Instead of quietly accepting the heartbreak, Shy decides that she wants revenge. But her plan takes an unexpected direction when she develops a friendship with Tara, the girl Mayank is now dating.

Love, Friendship and Complicated Choices

At the heart of the Don’t Be Shy Trailer is the confusion that often comes with young relationships.

Shy finds herself dealing with her feelings for Mayank while also reconnecting with Dhruv, her estranged childhood friend, played by Ansh Duggal. Tara, portrayed by Bianca Arora, adds another unexpected layer to the story.

The trailer suggests that what begins as a story about heartbreak gradually becomes a story about friendship, compassion and self-discovery.

Rather than presenting young adulthood as a simple phase filled with romance, the film appears to focus on the mistakes, misunderstandings and emotional choices that help people understand themselves better.

Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt Back the Film

Don’t Be Shy is being produced by Alia Bhatt and her sister Shaheen Bhatt under their production banner Eternal Sunshine Productions. Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani are the co-producers.

For Alia and Shaheen, the project focuses on experiences that are familiar to many young people — first relationships, close friendships, heartbreak and the process of figuring out who you really are.

The Don’t Be Shy Trailer reflects that tone by combining romantic moments with humour and situations that feel messy rather than perfectly planned.

Sreeti Mukerji’s Coming-of-Age Story

Sreeti Mukerji has written and directed the film. She described the project as a tribute to the movies she watched while growing up and still returns to for comfort and entertainment.

The filmmaker wants to capture the stage of life when people are close to adulthood but are still trying to understand themselves and their place in the world.

That idea appears central to the Don’t Be Shy Trailer. Shy believes she knows exactly where her life is headed, but relationships and unexpected events force her to rethink those plans.

The film therefore appears to use romance as a starting point for a larger story about growing up.

Four New Faces Lead the Film

One of the biggest attractions of Don’t Be Shy is its young cast.

Aarushi Bajaj leads the film as Shy, while Piyush Khati plays Mayank. Bianca Arora appears as Tara and Ansh Duggal plays Dhruv.

For the four actors, the film represents a major opportunity to introduce themselves to a wider audience. Ansh Duggal, in particular, is making his film debut with the project.

Aarushi has described playing Shy as both challenging and exciting because the character is quite different from her own personality. She also said the role pushed her beyond her comfort zone.

What Makes Don’t Be Shy Different?

The Don’t Be Shy Trailer suggests that the film is not simply a conventional love triangle.

Instead, it appears to explore how relationships change when people are forced to deal with jealousy, heartbreak and unexpected friendships. Shy’s relationship with Tara could become one of the most interesting elements of the story because the two initially have an obvious reason not to become friends.

The film also focuses on the uncertainty of growing up. Shy’s carefully planned future begins to look very different once circumstances change, making her question some of the choices she previously considered certain.

When and Where to Watch Don’t Be Shy Trailer

Don’t Be Shy will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on September 25, 2026. The film will stream in Hindi with English subtitles and will be released across India and more than 240 countries and territories.

With its combination of romance, friendship, humour and coming-of-age emotions, the film is aimed at audiences who enjoy stories about young relationships and the unpredictable transition into adulthood.

The Don’t Be Shy Trailer has introduced a fresh cast and a story built around emotions that are both complicated and relatable.
