Mithun Chakraborty Once Contemplated Suicide; Gets Emotional After Winning Prestigious Award
Mithun Chakraborty, one of the most beloved actors of his time, has been a staple of the Indian film industry for over five decades. Recently, it was announced that the veteran actor will be honored with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award. While this achievement is a huge milestone, Mithun’s journey to success was far from easy. There was a time when life’s struggles became so overwhelming for him that he even considered ending his life.

In a moment of great joy for Bollywood fans, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Mithun Chakraborty will be honored with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his incredible contributions to the Indian film industry. With a career spanning over 50 years, Mithun has acted in more than 370 films across 18 different languages. He first made his mark in Bollywood with the 1976 film “Mrigayaa,” which not only became a hit but also earned him the National Film Award for Best Actor.
Mithun Chakraborty Expresses His Joy
When asked about receiving the prestigious honor, Mithun was overwhelmed. “I don’t have words to express my feelings. I can neither laugh nor cry. This is such a big thing… I could never have imagined it. I am incredibly happy and I want to dedicate this award to my family and all my fans around the world,” said the emotional actor.
Battling Dark Times: A Shocking Revelation
From action to comedy, Mithun has entertained his fans in every genre. But during a recent interview with Times of India, the actor opened up about a lesser-known chapter of his life that left many fans shocked. He revealed, “I usually don’t talk much about this, and it’s not something I want to highlight, but there was a phase in my life where things were extremely difficult. I don’t like to discuss my struggles because I feel it may demotivate aspiring actors. Everyone faces challenges, but my struggle was exceptionally tough. There were times when I felt I would never achieve my goals, and I even thought about suicide.”
He further added, “I couldn’t even think about going back to Kolkata for certain reasons. But I want to tell everyone that no matter how hard things get, never run away from your struggles without putting up a fight. I was born a fighter, and I don’t know how to lose. Look where I am today.”
