Baba Siddique Shot Dead: NCP Leader Murdered in Mumbai, Two Suspects Detained by Police

In a shocking incident, former Maharashtra minister and senior NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai on Saturday. According to police reports, unidentified attackers opened fire on Siddique near his son’s office in Bandra East. Although he was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital for medical treatment, doctors could not save him, and he was declared dead.

Attack Outside Son’s Office

The incident occurred outside the office of Siddique’s son, Zeeshan Siddique. Eyewitnesses reported that three unknown assailants fired multiple rounds at the NCP leader before fleeing the scene. Siddique was taken to Lilavati Hospital in a critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police Detain Two Suspects

Mumbai Police confirmed they have detained two suspects in connection with the murder. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde revealed that one of the detained suspects is from Uttar Pradesh, while the other hails from Haryana. Meanwhile, the search is still underway for a third suspect involved in the attack. CM Shinde assured the public that the police have been instructed to maintain law and order and prevent any resurgence of criminal elements in the city.

Crime Branch Takes Over the Investigation

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, along with senior police officials, visited Lilavati Hospital to take stock of the situation. Security has been tightened around the hospital to prevent any disturbances. Additional Commissioner Parminder Singh Dahiya confirmed that the case has been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further investigation. The crime scene in Bandra East has been sealed off for forensic examination.

From Congress to NCP

Baba Siddique had a long political career, having served three terms as the MLA from Bandra West. In February this year, he made headlines by leaving the Congress party to join Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP. His sudden death has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra’s political circles.
