He also had special words of appreciation for the lead actors, particularly Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana.

His reaction has added to the conversation surrounding one of the most ambitious Indian film projects of the year.

Karan Johar Calls Ramayana’s Cinematic Adaptation a Miracle

Sharing his thoughts on social media, Karan reflected on the cultural significance of the Ramayana. He pointed out that generations of Indians have grown up reading, watching and listening to different versions of the epic.

Despite its familiarity, he said the film's cinematic adaptation managed to leave him impressed.

Karan described Ramayana as a story deeply rooted in India's cultural identity, values and traditions. He wrote that being blown away by an adaptation of a story people have known for generations was “no short of a Miracle”.

The filmmaker also expressed his deepest respect for every member of the production team. According to him, many people may dream of creating something on this scale, but the team behind the film actually turned that ambition into reality.

Karan Johar Praises Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari

Karan reserved special appreciation for producer Namit Malhotra, acknowledging his conviction and willingness to take risks while bringing the project to life.

He said Malhotra had inspired him to be braver and more ambitious as a filmmaker. Karan also highlighted conviction as one of the most important qualities a creator should possess.

Addressing director Nitesh Tiwari, Karan expressed love and respect for his filmmaking craft. He appreciated the director's confidence in presenting a familiar story in a straightforward yet powerful manner.

The project represents a major cinematic undertaking, bringing together a large ensemble cast and an international creative team to retell one of India's most recognised epics.

Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram: ‘Your Eyes Do All the Heavy Lifting’

One of the biggest highlights of Karan's note was his appreciation for Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Lord Ram.

Describing it as the actor's most challenging role so far, Karan praised the understated quality of his performance. He felt Ranbir had managed to communicate the divinity, goodness and humanity associated with Lord Ram without relying on excessive dramatic elements.

The filmmaker particularly highlighted the actor's expressions, writing that his eyes did all the heavy lifting.

Karan also described Ranbir's portrayal as meditative and congratulated him for successfully taking on a character that carries immense cultural and emotional significance for audiences.

Playing Lord Ram is a significant responsibility for any actor, given the character's place in Indian tradition. Karan's appreciation suggests that Ranbir's restrained approach made a strong impression on him.

Sai Pallavi Wins Praise for Her Portrayal of Sita

Karan also praised Sai Pallavi, who plays Goddess Sita in the film.

He described her performance as beautiful, convincing and sublime. The filmmaker particularly appreciated the way she portrayed Sita's unconditional love, sacrifice and emotional strength.

According to Karan, Sai's performance helped him connect with the character's emotional journey.

The actress has earned appreciation for her performances across Indian cinema, and her casting as Sita has been one of the major talking points surrounding the film.

Yash as Ravana Leaves Karan Johar Mesmerised

Karan had equally enthusiastic words for Yash, who portrays Ravana in the epic.

Calling the actor mesmerising and powerful, he praised his commanding screen presence. Karan noted that whenever Yash appeared on screen, he naturally attracted attention.

He also highlighted a sequence involving Ravana's multiple inner voices, describing it as outstanding.

Yash's transformation into Ravana has been among the most anticipated aspects of the film. The actor, known for his popularity following the KGF franchise, takes on a character that demands both a commanding presence and considerable dramatic depth.

Karan's reaction indicates that the performance and the particular sequence stood out during his viewing experience.

Ravi Dubey Also Gets a Special Mention

Apart from the principal characters, Karan specifically appreciated Ravi Dubey's portrayal of Lakshman.

He praised the actor for capturing the younger brother's loyalty, affection and devotion towards Lord Ram. Karan also said the performance moved him and made him smile.

Concluding his note, the filmmaker congratulated the entire cast, technicians and crew members. He described himself as an inspired filmmaker and a proud Indian moviegoer, encouraging audiences to watch the film with their families.
