Radhika Apte has spoken candidly about some of the unusual requests she has encountered during her acting career. The actress, known for taking on unconventional and challenging roles, revealed that some filmmakers assumed she would automatically agree to intimate scenes because of her previous work.
In a recent conversation with Zoom, Radhika explained that she has increasingly questioned whether such scenes are actually necessary for a story. She also recalled being asked to perform an action sequence in just her innerwear, leaving her questioning the purpose of the request.
Radhika Apte Says Filmmakers Made Assumptions
Radhika said that after appearing in several projects involving nudity and intimacy, some people in the industry began assuming that she would be willing to do similar scenes whenever asked.

According to the actress, this assumption became something she had to actively challenge. She explained that her previous decision to perform a particular scene should not be treated as a blanket agreement for future projects.
Radhika said she now asks filmmakers why a particular intimate moment is required and what it contributes to the story.
‘Why Do You Want Me to Kiss Him?’
The actress recalled situations where filmmakers asked her to kiss co-stars without providing what she considered a convincing reason.
She said that when she questioned the need for such moments, the response was sometimes simply to do “a little” or improvise for a few seconds. Radhika said she found such explanations surprising because she wanted to understand the creative purpose behind the scene.
Her comments underline her view that intimate scenes should have a clear narrative reason rather than being added simply because an actor has previously performed similar scenes.
Radhika Recalls an Unusual Action Scene Request
One of the most striking incidents she described involved an action sequence. Radhika said members of the team suggested that she perform the scene without fastening the buttons of her shirt.
When she pointed out that an action sequence would naturally involve the shirt moving, she said the discussion went further and she was asked whether she could perform it wearing only her bra and underwear.
Radhika questioned what the filmmakers were actually trying to achieve with the suggestion and ultimately said she did not do the scene that way.
Actress Wants Filmmakers to Explain the Purpose
Radhika's comments reflect her changing approach to intimate scenes. Rather than automatically accepting a request, she now wants filmmakers to explain why the scene is necessary and how it fits into the narrative.
The actress has worked across mainstream films, independent cinema and streaming projects, taking on characters that have sometimes required challenging performances.
Her experience, she suggested, has made her more conscious of the difference between a scene that serves the story and one that appears unnecessary.
Radhika Apte’s Bold Film Choices
Throughout her career, Radhika Apte has been associated with films and series that deal with complex subjects, relationships and sexuality. Her performances in projects such as Parched, Phobia, Sacred Games and Lust Stories have showcased her willingness to take on unconventional material.
However, her recent comments make an important distinction between choosing a demanding role and agreeing to every request made on a film set.
For Radhika, the creative context and purpose of a scene remain important considerations.
Radhika Apte Is Seen in Lust Stories 3
Radhika Apte is currently part of the Netflix anthology Lust Stories 3, which explores different aspects of relationships, desire and intimacy.
The anthology features an ensemble cast including Konkona Sen Sharma, Vijay Varma, Abhishek Banerjee, Aditi Rao Hydari, Siddharth, Radhika Madan and others.
Radhika's latest comments have also arrived at a time when conversations around intimacy, consent and the portrayal of desire in Indian cinema are receiving renewed attention.
A Larger Conversation About Boundaries on Film Sets
Radhika Apte's experience also adds to the broader discussion about professional boundaries in filmmaking. Intimate scenes can require detailed planning, communication and clarity between performers and filmmakers.
Her comments suggest that actors should be able to question the purpose of a scene and make decisions about what they are comfortable performing.
For Radhika, having previously taken on bold roles does not mean she is automatically willing to repeat the same choices in every project.
