Boney Kapoor Responds to Arshad Warsi Claims About Underpayment: Everyone Wants Media Attention

Arshad Warsi has been making headlines lately, not just for his remarks about Prabhas but also for his claims regarding underpayment for his work in the 1992 film Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja. In a recent interview, Arshad alleged that he was paid less than what was promised for choreographing a song in the movie, which was produced by Boney Kapoor. This claim has now sparked a reaction from the veteran producer himself.

Arshad Warsi had earlier faced backlash for calling Prabhas a “joker,” a comment that didn’t sit well with many in the industry. However, the actor’s comments about his compensation for the work done on Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja have brought him back into the spotlight. Warsi claimed that he was shortchanged by ₹25,000 for his work, which was completed in three days instead of the originally planned four.

Boney Kapoor, the producer of the film, has now responded to these allegations. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Kapoor expressed amusement at Warsi’s claims, stating, “I laughed when I heard what Arshad said. The film was shot in 1992, and back then, Arshad Warsi was not a star.” Kapoor went on to explain that the song was indeed choreographed in three days, as opposed to the four days initially planned. As a result, Arshad was paid ₹75,000 instead of the full ₹1 lakh, which was the agreed amount for four days of work.

Kapoor also mentioned that he had worked with Warsi on a television show and that the actor never brought up the issue at that time. The producer hinted that such claims might be more about seeking media attention, saying, “Now, everyone wants media attention.”

The controversy began when Arshad Warsi gave an interview to Samdish Bhatia, where he shared his frustration over the payment dispute. Warsi recounted how the production team requested him to finish the choreography early to save costs. Despite completing the task in three days and expecting additional payment for saving a day of shooting, he was handed a cheque for ₹75,000, which he felt was unfair.

This incident has reignited discussions about how actors and professionals in the industry are compensated, with Warsi’s case highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by many in Bollywood.

As the debate continues, it serves as a reminder of the complex dynamics behind the scenes in the film industry, where financial disputes can surface years after a project’s completion.
