Ma Thu Yen, who has visited India multiple times, shared her fondness for the country. She said, “I have visited India before. My first visit was to Shillong, where I brought my debut film as a director. Since then, I have visited India several times. Currently, I am promoting A Fragile Flower, and I have traveled to many cities. I have enjoyed the food and the people here.”

Jacqueline, the producer, also expressed her connection to India, “My husband is Indian, and his family lives in Hyderabad. We live in the USA, but we make sure to visit India twice a year. It’s always great to be here and experience Indian culture and cinema.”

A Fragile Flower: A Musical Drama with Global Appeal

A Fragile Flower is a musical drama inspired by the real-life journey of a renowned Vietnamese-American singer. Ma Thu Yen shared, “It took us a year to complete the film, and another year to promote it across the globe. The film has received 17 awards at various prestigious film festivals, including three awards in India.”

Jacqueline added, “The film focuses on love, humor, and human emotions, portraying a singer’s rise to the peak of her career. It features 15 songs in English and French, performed by Vietnamese and French artists. The film also hopes to introduce Vietnamese culture and music to a global audience.”

Vietnam’s Growing Film Industry

Talking about the Vietnamese film industry, Ma Thu Yen mentioned, “Each year, around 50 films are produced in Vietnam. While there are fewer female filmmakers in the industry, that number is slowly increasing. The film industry is growing, and we are hoping for more international filmmakers to collaborate with us. Vietnam has many beautiful locations, and filmmakers from around the world are already using them for shoots.”

Jacqueline highlighted the growing collaboration between Indian and Vietnamese filmmakers, saying, “We are currently working on a film titled Love in Vietnam with Indian filmmakers. This is our first collaboration with India, and we hope this marks the beginning of more partnerships between the two countries.”

Bollywood’s Global Influence

Both Ma Thu Yen and Jacqueline shared their admiration for Bollywood. Ma Thu Yen said, “When I was younger, I used to watch many Indian films on TV. Now, many Bollywood dramas are aired on Vietnamese TV. I hope to see Bollywood films in Vietnamese theaters soon.”

Jacqueline also expressed her admiration for Bollywood, “I watch a lot of Bollywood and Tollywood films with my husband. Shah Rukh Khan is one of my favorite actors. I love his performances, and his films have a special place in my heart.”

When it comes to shopping, both Ma Thu Yen and Jacqueline shared their love for Indian fashion and local markets. Ma Thu Yen said, “I love Indian sarees. Every time I visit India, I buy sarees. They make me feel connected to the Indian culture.” Jacqueline also enjoys shopping for unique items, saying, “I love shopping in local markets. I enjoy buying authentic Indian jewelry and shoes that are not available in the USA.”
