Vidya Balan Return as ‘Manjulika’ and Her Readiness for a ‘Dirty Picture’ Sequel

Bollywood Mascot: The original Manjulika of Hindi cinema, Vidya Balan, is set to reprise her iconic role on the big screen once again. She will be featured in the upcoming film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, alongside Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit, and Tripti Dimri, which is set to release in theaters this Diwali. Anticipation for this film is high among audiences.

This time, not only will Kartik Aaryan’s character, Ruhu Baba, face confusion, but the audience will also be caught up in the mystery of who the real Manjulika is. Fans are eager to see Vidya back as ‘Manjulika’, but the actress herself is also ready to take on a ‘dirty girl’ role again.

Vidya Balan: “I Am Fully Prepared”

Recently, in an interview with Galatta India, Vidya expressed her desire to portray a ‘juicy’ character once more. When asked if she would return for a sequel to ‘Dirty Picture’, she confidently replied, “I would definitely like to play the role; I am absolutely ready for it.” Vidya also shared that during her portrayal of ‘Silk’ in 2011, many advised her about the potential impact on her image. She boldly stated that she doesn’t concern herself with such matters.

The Success of ‘Dirty Picture’

Produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Productions, ‘Dirty Picture’ featured Vidya Balan as the South actress ‘Silk Smitha’. This biographical musical drama also starred Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah, and Tusshar Kapoor in key roles. Made on a budget of 18 crores, the film collected 117 crores at the box office in 2011. Directed by Milan Luthria, it was released on December 2.

Vidya Balan’s portrayal of Manjulika and her connection to ‘Dirty Picture’ are significant milestones in her career, and audiences are eagerly awaiting her return.
