On October 3, 2024, Vivek Agnihotri took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share important details about The Delhi Files. He mentioned that after years of extensive research, the story was too powerful to fit into just one movie. The film will be released in two parts, with the first being titled The Bengal Chapter. This installment will unveil a significant historical event that many might not be aware of.
The Delhi Files Release Date Confirmed
Agnihotri confirmed that the first part of the movie, The Bengal Chapter, will be released on August 15, 2025, coinciding with India’s Independence Day. However, it’s still unclear whether the film will have a theatrical release or if it will be available directly on an OTT platform. The poster accompanying the announcement shows an Ashoka Pillar and a small child demanding justice, with the words “Right to Life” prominently displayed.
Years of Research for the Film
Vivek Agnihotri and his team have poured immense effort into the making of The Delhi Files. They have read over 100 books and 200 articles, traveled to 20 different states, and studied over 7,000 pages of research and 1,000 archived articles to ensure the story is portrayed as accurately and strongly as possible.
Agnihotri is producing the film alongside Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. He is also directing the movie, while Tej Narayan Agarwal and I Am Buddha are presenting the project.
