Swara Bhasker Recalls 2019 Ayodhya Verdict Reaction, Reveals Messages to SRK, Salman and Aamir

Swara Bhasker has recalled how she reacted to the Supreme Court’s 2019 Ayodhya verdict during a recent podcast conversation. The actress said she contacted Muslim friends, including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, to express her personal feelings about the judgment.

Swara Bhasker has spoken about her reaction to the Supreme Court’s 2019 Ayodhya verdict, recalling that she was deeply upset by the judgment and subsequently reached out to several Muslim friends. The actress made the revelation while speaking on The Midnight Hour podcast, where she discussed her personal response to the verdict and the conversations that followed.

According to Swara, the November 9, 2019 judgment left her feeling that the decision was unfair. She said that she wanted to personally communicate with Muslim people she knew and therefore sent messages to several contacts in her phonebook. Among the names she mentioned were Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, along with her husband Fahad Ahmad.

Swara Bhasker Recalls Her Reaction

Speaking about the period following the Ayodhya judgment, Swara said that she was extremely disturbed by the decision. She recalled questioning the situation in the country and said she personally felt the verdict was unfair.

The actress then described how she decided to contact Muslim friends. According to her account, she wanted them to know that she did not agree with the judgment and felt sorry about its impact from her personal perspective.

She specifically mentioned Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan among the people she contacted. Swara said she told them that, as a Hindu, she felt sorry and ashamed and did not agree with the verdict.

Her comments have since generated discussion on social media, with some users criticising her views while others focused on the fact that she was describing her personal reaction to a judgment delivered several years ago.

What Was the 2019 Ayodhya Verdict?

The Supreme Court’s judgment on November 9, 2019, concerned the long-running title dispute over the site in Ayodhya where the Babri Masjid had stood before its demolition in December 1992.

A five-judge Constitution Bench unanimously directed that the disputed land, measuring 2.77 acres, be handed over for the construction of a Ram temple. The court also directed the government to allot five acres of alternative land to the Sunni Central Waqf Board for the construction of a mosque.

The judgment brought a legal conclusion to a dispute that had continued through multiple judicial proceedings over several decades. The Supreme Court's decision addressed the competing claims relating to the disputed property while also directing the allocation of alternative land for a mosque.

Swara Says Some Friends Told Her Not to Apologise

Swara also recalled the responses she received from some of the people she contacted after the verdict.

According to the actress, some friends told her that there was no need for her to send such a message. She described receiving responses along the lines of reassurance that she did not need to apologise personally for the court's decision.

The episode, as recalled by Swara, illustrates how the verdict affected conversations among people from different communities and backgrounds. Her comments were specifically about her own reaction and the messages she chose to send to people she knew.

Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan Were Among Her Contacts

Swara's mention of the three Khans has attracted particular attention because all three are among the most prominent Muslim actors in the Hindi film industry.

The actress said that she wanted to reach out to Muslim people in her phonebook after the verdict. Along with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, she also mentioned Fahad Ahmad.

The revelation has subsequently become the main focus of reports about her podcast appearance, with entertainment publications highlighting her account of those conversations.

Swara Also Discusses Fahad Ahmad and Umar Khalid

During the same podcast conversation, Swara Bhasker and her husband Fahad Ahmad also spoke about their relationship and how they first became connected.

Swara revealed that activist Umar Khalid played a role in introducing the two. Fahad, who was acquainted with Khalid, received Swara's phone number through him and was encouraged to contact her.

Swara described Khalid as someone who helped connect the couple. She and Fahad had first crossed paths during the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act, where both were involved.

Fahad and Swara later registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act in February 2023. The couple welcomed their daughter, Raabiyaa, in September 2023, according to reports covering their relationship.

Swara’s Comments Renew Online Debate

The actress's latest remarks have once again brought her political and social views into the entertainment news cycle. Several social media users have criticised her comments about the Ayodhya judgment, while reports have also highlighted the context in which she made the statements.

The discussion is based on Swara's recollection of an event that took place in 2019, rather than a new statement about a current court proceeding. The Supreme Court judgment itself was delivered on November 9, 2019, and its directions regarding the disputed site and alternative land for a mosque were part of that ruling.

For Bollywood audiences, the story has attracted additional attention because Swara named three major Hindi film stars — Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan — while recounting the people she contacted at the time.

Her comments have therefore become a fresh talking point on social media, even though the incident she described dates back nearly seven years.
