Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar, is all set to surprise audiences with his upcoming film ‘Dunki,’ following the successes of ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawaan.’ However, contrary to expectations, ‘Dunki’ emerges as Khan’s lowest-budget film in the last six years, marking a new record even before its release.
Starring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal in pivotal roles, ‘Dunki’ reportedly boasts a budget of 85 crores, significantly lower compared to Khan’s recent ventures. According to Pinkvilla’s report, this budget stands as the most economical among Khan’s last six projects. For instance, ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ was made with a budget of 90 crores, while ‘Raees’ had an estimated budget ranging from 90 to 95 crores. In contrast, ‘Zero’ was a hefty 200 crores, ‘Pathaan’ amounted to 240 crores, and ‘Jawaan’ soared to 300 crores.
The unique aspect about ‘Dunki’ is that its budget excludes the cast fees, making it a remarkable feat in cost efficiency. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film wrapped up shooting in just 75 days, with Shah Rukh Khan dedicating 60 days to the project.
With high hopes pinned on ‘Dunki’ following the tremendous success of ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Jawaan,’ expectations soar for another blockbuster. ‘Pathaan’ crossed the 1000 crore mark worldwide, while ‘Jawaan,’ released on September 7, raked in a staggering 1150 crores, securing its place as the fifth highest-grossing Indian film and the highest-grossing Hindi film to date.
However, ‘Dunki’ faces tough competition at the box office as it gears up to release alongside Prabhas starrer ‘Salaar – Seize the Fire 1’ on December 21, intensifying the battle for audience attention.
This low-budget venture from Shah Rukh Khan’s stable brings a refreshing change, promising an intriguing storyline and performances to captivate audiences, setting the stage for an exciting showdown at the box office.
