Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan are reportedly preparing to reunite on the sets of King for a grand song sequence. According to recent reports, filming is expected to begin in Mumbai on October 26, 2026, marking Deepika’s return to the film’s sets after welcoming her second daughter, Devi, with husband Ranveer Singh.
The upcoming sequence is expected to feature several members of the film’s ensemble cast. Preparations are reportedly underway for an extensive shoot lasting around a week, with the makers planning a large-scale musical number.
The development has generated excitement among fans, who are looking forward to seeing Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone share the screen again. The pair has delivered several popular films together, and their reunion in King is among the elements attracting attention to the upcoming action entertainer.
Vaibhavi Merchant to Choreograph the Grand Song
Renowned choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant is reportedly attached to the upcoming song sequence. The project will mark her eighth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan, according to reports.
Known for choreographing elaborate Bollywood dance numbers, Merchant is expected to bring a grand visual presentation to the sequence. However, the makers have not officially revealed the song’s title, musical details or the exact concept behind its staging.
Earlier reports suggested that the production team might travel to South Africa to film the song. The latest reports indicate that the sequence is now planned for Mumbai, where preparations are being made for the shoot.
If the reported schedule proceeds as planned, the song could become an important part of the film’s final production phase ahead of its anticipated Christmas release.
Deepika and Shah Rukh’s Sixth Film Together
King marks another collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, whose on-screen partnership began with the actress’s Bollywood debut in Om Shanti Om in 2007.
The duo subsequently reunited for Chennai Express (2013) and Happy New Year (2014). They later appeared together in Pathaan and Jawan, both released in 2023.
Their repeated collaborations have helped establish them as one of Bollywood’s popular screen pairings. The upcoming film will give audiences another opportunity to see them together, this time in a project directed by Siddharth Anand.
The film also features Shah Rukh’s daughter, Suhana Khan, alongside actors Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Verma.
What We Know About Shah Rukh Khan’s King
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King is an action entertainer backed by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. The film has attracted considerable attention because of its star-studded cast and Shah Rukh Khan’s reunion with the director following Pathaan.
The production has been progressing through its final schedules, with action sequences and song shoots forming part of the remaining work. Reports have also indicated that the team is working on the film’s visual effects ahead of its theatrical release.
