Anupam Kher Opens Up About Missing Parenthood at 69, Reflects on His Stepson Sikandar

Bollywood Mascot: Veteran actor Anupam Kher, at the age of 69, has recently shared his deep feelings regarding not having his own children. In a candid interview, Kher discussed the void he feels in his life and spoke about his relationship with his stepson, Sikandar Kher, the son of his wife, Kirron Kher.

Anupam Kher has been married twice, first to Madhumalti Kapoor in 1979, which ended within a year. He later married actress Kirron Kher in 1985, who had a son, Sikandar, from her previous marriage to Gautam Berry.

Pain of Not Having Biological Children

In his recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra, Kher revealed that for the past seven to eight years, he has increasingly felt the absence of a biological child. He expressed, “I didn’t feel this way earlier, but now I think about it often. It’s not that I’m unhappy with Sikandar; rather, I find joy in watching a child grow and experiencing that bond. I could have avoided this topic, but I didn’t want to.”

Kher acknowledged that as Kirron and Sikandar have become busier with their lives, the feeling of missing a child has intensified. He noted that as he aged, particularly after reaching his 50s, he began to sense a feeling of emptiness, especially when he sees friends with their children.

A Commitment to Children

Despite not having biological children, Anupam Kher is passionate about children’s welfare. He runs the Anupam Kher Foundation, dedicated to helping underprivileged children.

Upcoming Projects

On the professional front, Kher is set to appear in Kangana Ranaut’s film “Emergency.” Originally scheduled for release on September 6, the film faced delays due to pending approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, it has now received the necessary certification, and the release date will be announced soon.
