Anil Kapoor Reveals Mannat Connection to Tezaab and Shah Rukh Khan

Anil Kapoor has shared a nostalgic story about Shah Rukh Khan and his iconic home, Mannat. The actor revealed that he had filmed scenes for Tezaab at the same property years before SRK purchased it, and recalled how he always believed Shah Rukh would become a major star.

Shah Rukh Khan's iconic residence, Mannat, has a fascinating connection with Bollywood's past. Veteran actor Anil Kapoor has now revealed that he once shot scenes for his 1988 film Tezaab at the very property that would later become the superstar's famous sea-facing home.

During an episode of Star Plus' reality show India Ke Top 1%, Anil revisited his long-standing friendship with Shah Rukh and shared memories from the actor's early days in Mumbai. His revelations offered a glimpse into SRK's journey from an aspiring actor to one of the biggest names in Indian cinema.

Anil Kapoor Shot Tezaab at Mannat Before SRK Bought It

The conversation began when Anil Kapoor asked a contestant how she would spend the prize money if she won ₹1 crore. The contestant expressed her wish to purchase a sea-facing home similar to Shah Rukh Khan's Mannat.

Her answer reminded Anil of his personal connection with the property. He revealed that he had filmed Tezaab at the bungalow before Shah Rukh purchased it.

Recalling the moment, Anil said, "I remember him buying Mannat right before my eyes. I had also shot for Tezaab at that property, before it became his home."

The revelation adds an interesting chapter to the history of Mannat, which is now one of Mumbai's most recognisable celebrity residences.

Anil Kapoor Knew Shah Rukh Khan Would Become a Big Star

Anil also recalled meeting Shah Rukh Khan before the latter became a Bollywood star. According to him, their relationship began when Shah Rukh visited him while he was shooting for Benaam Badshah.

Anil remembered being impressed by the young actor's personality and confidence during their first meeting.

"Shah Rukh sahab and I have been very close friends for many years. He had come to meet me while I was shooting for Benaam Badshah. When I saw him and looked into his eyes, I felt that he would become a very big star," Anil shared.

He added that their friendship gradually grew over the years.

Shah Rukh began his acting career on television in the late 1980s before making his Bollywood debut with Deewana in 1992. Anil's recollection highlights how the actor had already made a strong impression on people in the industry before achieving widespread fame.

Shah Rukh Khan Dreamt of Owning a Sea-Facing Bungalow

Anil further revealed that Shah Rukh used to live in a flat on Carter Road after moving to Mumbai. The two actors would meet there, and Shah Rukh often spoke about his dream of owning a grand bungalow overlooking the sea.

Anil recalled that Shah Rukh eventually fulfilled that ambition by purchasing Mannat in 2000.

The property, located at Bandra's Bandstand, has since become a landmark for the actor's fans, many of whom gather outside the residence to catch a glimpse of the superstar.

What makes Anil's story particularly interesting is that he witnessed both sides of the journey: Shah Rukh's early dream and his eventual ownership of the property.

Anil Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan to Reunite in King

Anil Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan have previously shared screen space in the 1995 film Trimurti. Although the film did not perform as expected commercially, the actors have maintained a long-standing friendship.

They are now set to reunite in Siddharth Anand's upcoming film King, scheduled for a theatrical release on December 24, 2026.

The film also features Deepika Padukone, Suhana Khan, Rani Mukerji, Abhishek Bachchan, Arshad Warsi and Jaideep Ahlawat, among others.
