Akshay Kumar, Bollywood’s action star, is making a comeback on the big screen with his latest film, “Khel Khel Mein.” Set to clash with “Stree 2” at the box office on August 15, Akshay is leaving no stone unturned in promoting his movie. Recently, he made headlines by calling the classic cartoon “Tom and Jerry” more violent than comedic, citing its heavy action scenes.

Tom and Jerry: Not Just a Laughing Matter?

Warner Bros.’ cartoon show “Tom and Jerry” was once a favorite among viewers of all ages. Whether young or old, everyone enjoyed watching the antics of the iconic cat-and-mouse duo. The show was known to make even the saddest of viewers laugh out loud as they watched Tom and Jerry’s endless battles.

Though the show has long been off the air, it still holds a special place in the hearts of many who search for its clips on YouTube. While most people see it as a comedy, Akshay Kumar has a different take. He believes the cartoon franchise actually depicts violence.

Akshay Kumar Take on Tom and Jerry

During the promotion of his upcoming comedy film “Khel Khel Mein,” Akshay Kumar shared his views on “Tom and Jerry.” He openly discussed how the show, rather than being purely comedic, is filled with action and violence.

The conversation took an interesting turn when Fardeen Khan, one of Akshay’s co-stars, mentioned in an interview with Pinkvilla that “Tom and Jerry” was his favorite cartoon, especially for its comedic elements. Akshay immediately interrupted, stating that “Tom and Jerry” isn’t just about comedy—it’s actually about action, and yes, it’s violent.

He even revealed that several action scenes in his films have been inspired by “Tom and Jerry.” Akshay mentioned one of his movies where a helicopter scene was directly inspired by the cartoon.

Box Office Battle: Khel Khel Mein vs. Stree 2

Talking about his film “Khel Khel Mein,” this will be Akshay Kumar’s second major release of 2024. His previous film, “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” didn’t fare well at the box office.

In “Khel Khel Mein,” Akshay stars alongside actors like Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Fardeen Khan, and Vaani Kapoor. The film will hit theaters on August 15, facing stiff competition from “Stree 2” and John Abraham’s “Veda” at the box office.
