Amid recent rumours that the much-awaited sequel could be postponed, the makers have now confirmed that the film is still scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 15, 2026.

The clarification came from production house Sun Pictures, which shared a new poster for the film on September 2. The poster once again carries the October 15 release date, making it clear that the film's theatrical plans have not changed.

The new Jailer 2 poster features Rajinikanth in an intense look, holding a gun. Along with his image, the poster prominently displays the October 15 release date.

Sun Pictures shared the poster with the caption “October 15th Alappara Kelappurom!”, a phrase associated with the hit Jailer song “Hukum.” The line roughly conveys the idea of creating a huge celebration or making a big impact.

The poster has further increased excitement among fans who have been waiting for the return of Rajinikanth's popular character.

Rajinikanth Returns as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian

One of the biggest attractions of Jailer 2 is the return of Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.

The character became hugely popular after Jailer released in 2023 and became one of Rajinikanth's major box-office successes. The sequel once again brings together Rajinikanth and director Nelson Dilipkumar.

Music composer Anirudh Ravichander is also returning for the sequel. He previously created the music and background score for Jailer, including the hugely popular “Hukum” track.

What About Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan?

There has also been considerable buzz around possible Bollywood appearances in Jailer 2.

Earlier reports linked Shah Rukh Khan to a possible cameo in the film. However, TV9 reports that Shah Rukh eventually declined the appearance because he is currently focused on his upcoming film King.

After Shah Rukh's reported exit from the cameo discussions, Hrithik Roshan's name began circulating in connection with the project.

At present, the reported Hrithik appearance should be treated cautiously unless the makers officially confirm his role.

Jailer 2 Gets a Big Star Cast

The sequel is expected to bring back several familiar faces from the first film while expanding the world of the franchise.

Reports have linked actors including Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mohanlal and Shivarajkumar with the sequel. The film is again being directed by Nelson, with Anirudh handling the music and background score.

The combination of Rajinikanth, Nelson and Anirudh has already created strong expectations among fans.
