Mumbai: Comedian and actor Sunil Pal has sparked a fresh discussion in the entertainment industry after publicly criticising actress Tanushree Dutta over her alleged remarks concerning veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar.
In a video statement shared with Bollywood Mascot, Sunil Pal expressed his displeasure with Tanushree Dutta's comments and came out strongly in support of Nana Patekar, praising the veteran actor for his simplicity, grounded personality and contributions to farmers.
Sunil Pal Defends Nana Patekar
During the video, Sunil Pal questioned Tanushree Dutta's remarks and suggested that she should refrain from making such statements if she was not in the right frame of mind.
"If your mind isn't working properly, you should take some rest. You stayed away for ten years, so you can rest a little longer," Pal said in Hindi, according to the account of his statement.
The comedian went on to describe Nana Patekar as a true son of the soil, highlighting his humble lifestyle and philanthropic work.
He praised Patekar for staying away from unnecessary showmanship, wearing simple clothes and dedicating himself to supporting farmers.
'You Won't Get Media Publicity This Way,' Says Sunil Pal
Sunil Pal also questioned Tanushree Dutta's intentions behind her alleged comments, suggesting that making controversial statements about a respected actor would not necessarily bring her media attention.
Referring to Dutta's appearance in the popular Bollywood song Aashiq Banaya Aapne, Pal remarked that audiences were already familiar with her and that she did not need to make such statements to gain recognition.
The comedian further expressed his objection to what he described as her use of terms such as "evil" and "dead" while discussing Nana Patekar.
Sunil Pal's 'Witch' Remark Draws Attention
One of the strongest moments in Sunil Pal's statement came when he used the Hindi word "chudail" (witch) while criticising Tanushree Dutta.
"You're not a witch, are you? Then at least don't behave like one," Pal remarked, as conveyed in the video statement.
The comment adds another contentious dimension to the ongoing public disagreement surrounding Tanushree Dutta and Nana Patekar.
