The decision appears to be closely connected to the couple's long-standing relationship with Himachal Pradesh.
Yami has a particularly strong connection with the state. Before marrying Aditya, she had purchased a heritage house and a sizeable piece of land in Gohar, Mandi. The actress has often spoken about her affection for the mountains and her desire for a quieter lifestyle.
Aditya, meanwhile, comes from a Kashmiri Pandit family and was raised in Delhi. The couple's preference for a relatively private life reportedly made Himachal an ideal place for them to settle.
Aditya Dhar Himachal Home Has a Special Story
Yami and Aditya's Himachal home is not simply a holiday property. It has a deep personal connection to their relationship.
The couple got married in June 2021 in Himachal Pradesh in an intimate ceremony attended by close family members. Yami has previously explained that both she and Aditya wanted a simple wedding surrounded by nature rather than a large celebrity celebration.

Mumbai continues to be the centre of their professional activities, and both are expected to travel to the city whenever work requires them.
For Aditya, filmmaking keeps him connected to the Hindi film industry, while Yami continues to work as an actor. Their reported decision appears to be more about choosing where they want to live rather than stepping away from their careers.
Yami Once Considered Returning to Himachal
Interestingly, Yami has previously revealed that she once seriously considered leaving Bollywood and returning to Himachal Pradesh.
During a 2026 interview, she recalled that after struggling to find meaningful opportunities following Vicky Donor, she had made peace with leaving the film industry altogether. She even imagined returning to Himachal and beginning a completely different life there.
Her career changed dramatically after Uri: The Surgical Strike and Bala brought her renewed recognition.
Now, years later, Himachal appears to have become an important part of her real life despite her continued connection with Bollywood.

Yami and Aditya have consistently maintained a relatively low-key personal life.
