Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious film Ramayana has brought several familiar and talented actors together to recreate the epic on the big screen. While Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash are among the most talked-about members of the cast, veteran actor Ajinkya Deo has also attracted attention for his portrayal of Maharishi Vishwamitra.
Interestingly, Ajinkya is not the only member of his family associated with the entertainment industry. He comes from a prominent film family and is the son of celebrated actors Ramesh Deo and Seema Deo. His elder brother, Abhinay Deo, is also a well-known filmmaker who has directed films and web series.

Ajinkya Deo was born into a family deeply connected with Marathi and Hindi cinema. His father, Ramesh Deo, was a respected actor who worked in numerous films and television projects. His mother, Seema Deo, was also a popular actress known for her work in Marathi and Hindi cinema.
The couple made a significant contribution to Indian entertainment over several decades. Their performances and long association with the film industry helped establish the Deo family as a familiar name among cinema audiences.
Following in his parents' footsteps, Ajinkya developed an interest in acting and went on to build a career across Marathi and Hindi films.
Brother Abhinay Deo Is a Successful Director
Ajinkya's elder brother, Abhinay Deo, chose a different path within the entertainment industry. Instead of pursuing acting, he established himself as a director and filmmaker.
Abhinay is known for directing films such as Delhi Belly and Force, along with projects including the television series 24 and the web series Brown.
In a recent conversation with Mid-Day, Abhinay spoke proudly about his younger brother's acting abilities. He described Ajinkya as an exceptionally versatile performer who deserves greater recognition for his work.
Abhinay also expressed excitement about seeing him play Vishwamitra in Ramayana. He said the role would allow audiences to witness a different side of his brother's acting talent.
Ajinkya Deo's Journey in Films
Ajinkya made his acting debut in the Marathi film Ardhangi in 1985. He subsequently appeared in several Marathi and Hindi films and earned recognition for his performances.
His filmography includes titles such as Sarja, Gair, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior and Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. He also appeared in Prahaar: The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam.
Over the years, Ajinkya has worked across different genres and character types, establishing himself as a versatile supporting and leading actor.
His brother Abhinay has often maintained that Ajinkya's talent should have received greater opportunities much earlier in his career.
Ajinkya Deo's Role as Vishwamitra in Ramayana
In Ramayana, Ajinkya Deo portrays Maharishi Vishwamitra, an important sage in Lord Ram's story. Vishwamitra plays a significant role in guiding Ram and Lakshman during their early journey.
He takes the princes with him to protect sacred rituals from demons and later leads them towards Mithila, where Ram meets Sita.
Interestingly, Ajinkya had initially auditioned for the role of King Dashrath, which was eventually played by Arun Govil. The makers later offered him the role of Vishwamitra, which he accepted.
The actor has described the character as a meaningful opportunity and said he believes the role came to him with the blessings of Lord Ram.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
