Vikrant Massey is turning the fictional world of Musafir Cafe into a real-life experience. The actor, who played Chander in the Netflix series, is working on two cafés inspired by the show—one in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, and another in Uttarakhand. Construction is already underway, with the spaces being designed to capture the cosy mountain atmosphere associated with the series.
The project is being developed with Vikrant’s wife, actor Sheetal Thakur. Unlike ordinary cafés, however, the concept goes beyond food and beverages. Around 20 rooms are being planned as artist residencies, giving creative professionals a place to stay, work and connect while surrounded by the mountains.

The idea of Musafir Cafe becoming a physical destination comes after the positive response to the Netflix series. Vikrant Massey revealed that fans had encouraged him to bring the fictional café into the real world, and the concept eventually developed into a larger project.
The upcoming cafés are being designed along the lines of the space seen in the show while being adapted to their respective mountain locations. The aim is reportedly to retain the warmth and recognisable aesthetic of Musafir Cafe rather than simply using the name as a brand.
Two Cafés Are Being Developed In The Hills
According to the latest report, one café is coming up in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, while the second is planned in Uttarakhand. Construction work has already begun at both locations.
Images from the Dharamshala site show stone and wooden structures taking shape against the mountain backdrop. The design is expected to recreate elements of the fictional café while allowing the real property to blend into its natural surroundings.
The cafés are reportedly targeted for launch by summer 2027, although the exact opening dates have not been announced.

Sheetal Thakur Is Also Part Of The Project
Vikrant Massey is developing the project with his wife, actor Sheetal Thakur. Her connection with Himachal Pradesh also makes the location personally significant for the couple.
Sheetal is from Himachal Pradesh, and the couple married in a traditional Himachali ceremony in 2022. Their association with the region adds another personal connection to the plan of establishing a creative space in the mountains.

The Netflix series Musafir Cafe is based on the novel of the same name by author Divya Prakash Dubey. Vikrant Massey plays Chander, a man who moves to the hills while attempting to rebuild his life.
The story revolves around relationships, new beginnings and the café that becomes an important part of Chander’s journey. Vedika Pinto and Mahima Makwana also play key roles in the series.
The fictional café became so closely associated with the story that turning it into a real-world destination has become a natural extension of the show's universe.
Musafir Cafe Season 2 Is Also In Development
The real-life café project comes at a time when the Musafir Cafe franchise is also moving forward on screen. The Netflix series has been renewed for a second season, with Vikrant Massey, Vedika Pinto and Mahima Makwana expected to return to their respective roles.
The second season will continue the story of Chander, Sudha and Preeti, while the real-life cafés will allow fans to experience the atmosphere associated with the series outside the screen.
