Director Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar has opened up about his decision to cast Emraan Hashmi in the lead role of his upcoming film Ground Zero. Known for choosing unconventional stories, Deoskar felt that casting Emraan would not only bring freshness but also a surprising edge to the film, especially since the actor has rarely been seen in uniformed roles.

According to the director, Emraan's persona brings a different energy to the screen—something unexpected and engaging. "He’s someone the audience has never imagined as a soldier or an officer. That novelty factor itself adds depth to the character,” Deoskar explained. The film, which dives into the life of a BSF officer posted in Kashmir, needed a performer who could carry the emotional weight and intensity of the storyline.

Ground Zero is based on true events and follows the journey of Narendra Nath Dubey, a Border Security Force officer who was instrumental in a significant counter-terrorism operation. The story traces his years of service in the conflict-heavy region of Kashmir, highlighting not just military action but also the psychological and emotional battles faced by soldiers on the front line.

Deoskar emphasized the importance of authenticity in storytelling, stating that a great deal of research went into developing the screenplay. Filming took place in Srinagar to ensure the setting felt genuine and immersive. The idea was to capture the raw atmosphere and lived experiences of those stationed in sensitive border areas.

The film not only marks a new territory for Emraan Hashmi as an actor but also promises a powerful narrative grounded in real-life bravery. With its blend of action, emotion, and realism, Ground Zero aims to stand out from conventional patriotic dramas and offer a more nuanced take on the life of soldiers battling extremism in volatile regions.

Slated for release later this year, the film is generating buzz for its strong storyline, unique casting, and a refreshing departure from routine Bollywood war dramas. If the early response is anything to go by, Ground Zero could very well become one of the most talked-about films of the year.
