Taapsee Pannu Reacts to Kangana Ranaut Remarks at Gandhari Trailer Launch

Taapsee Pannu and Kangana Ranaut's long-running public feud has once again become a talking point in Bollywood. This time, the discussion resurfaced during the promotional activities for Taapsee's upcoming film Gandhari.

At an event related to the film's trailer launch, Taapsee was asked about Kangana's recent remarks and the ongoing controversy between the two actresses. Rather than getting into another detailed exchange, Taapsee appeared visibly irritated by the repeated questions and questioned why the matter was still being discussed.

The actress suggested that the issue could have ended long ago if people stopped bringing it up repeatedly.

Taapsee Says the Issue Should End

When asked about Kangana, Taapsee reportedly expressed her frustration over the continued attention given to their differences.

Her reaction was essentially that the controversy had continued because people kept asking both actresses about it. She questioned why the matter was not being allowed to end instead of repeatedly bringing it back into conversations.

This is not the first time Taapsee has attempted to distance herself from the controversy. In recent days, she has also spoken about the fact that she and Kangana have never actually met personally despite their public disagreements.

The Latest Taapsee-Kangana Exchange

The latest episode began after Taapsee made comments about how differences between people can be influenced by their upbringing and the way they are taught to look at certain issues.

Kangana subsequently reacted strongly on social media. She accused Taapsee of making remarks about her upbringing and parents and again used the phrase “sasti copy”, which has been associated with their earlier public dispute. Kangana's posts were later deleted.

Taapsee later appeared to respond with a short, cryptic social media post, which further fuelled speculation about the exchange.

Gandhari Trailer Launch Becomes Part of the Controversy

The latest questions came at a time when Taapsee is busy promoting Gandhari, a dark action thriller in which she plays a mother searching for her kidnapped daughter.

The trailer has presented Taapsee in an intense and physically demanding role. Her character, Bani, is determined to find her daughter and gets pulled into a dangerous world while following the clues surrounding the kidnapping.

The actress appears keen to keep the focus on the film, but questions about Kangana have once again shifted some attention towards their personal history.

Taapsee Pannu and Kangana Ranaut: A Long History

The public friction between Taapsee and Kangana goes back several years.

Their dispute became particularly visible around 2019 and 2020, when discussions about nepotism and the Hindi film industry's treatment of outsiders were dominating Bollywood conversations. Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel had also described Taapsee as a “sasti copy” of Kangana, a remark that became closely associated with the feud.

Over the years, the two actresses have occasionally commented on each other, although they have never developed the kind of personal relationship that their frequent media coverage might suggest.

Taapsee Says She Has Never Met Kangana

One of the more interesting revelations from Taapsee's recent comments is that she has never actually met Kangana.

Speaking at the India Today Woman Summit 2026, Taapsee said that she had not met Kangana before their public disagreements began and had not met her since either. She also suggested that their contrasting opinions could be connected to their different backgrounds and upbringing.

That statement puts their long-running public feud in an unusual context: much of the conflict has played out through interviews, social media and public comments rather than direct personal interactions.

The film marks another collaboration between Taapsee and writer-producer Kanika Dhillon. The two have previously worked together on projects including Manmarziyaan, Haseen Dillruba and Rashmi Rocket.

Gandhari Has Its Own Controversy Too

Interestingly, Gandhari itself has recently been surrounded by a separate controversy.

Writer Kalyan Bandi has alleged that the film's story resembles a screenplay he wrote and registered in 2019. The claim has been denied by the production company, which has described the allegations as baseless and maintained that Gandhari is an original creation.

Despite the controversy, the film's promotional campaign is continuing ahead of its September 3 OTT release.

Taapsee Wants Attention on Her Film

With the trailer receiving attention for its action sequences and emotional storyline, Taapsee has plenty to discuss about Gandhari beyond the Kangana controversy.

The actress plays a mother pushed to extreme limits after her daughter is abducted. Unlike a conventional action hero, her character's motivation comes from a deeply personal place, making the film's emotional aspect as important as its action.

Taapsee's performance is therefore expected to be one of the major attractions when the film arrives on Netflix.

Why the Feud Keeps Returning

The Taapsee-Kangana controversy has repeatedly resurfaced because both actresses have strong public personalities and have never shied away from expressing their views.

However, Taapsee's latest response suggests that she is increasingly uncomfortable with the constant focus on an old dispute. Her reaction at the Gandhari event indicates that she would rather discuss her current work than continue revisiting a controversy that has followed both actresses for years.

For now, the latest exchange has once again brought their names together, even though Taapsee appears determined to move the conversation back towards Gandhari and her upcoming role.
