At 68, Sunny Deol continues to surprise fans with his energy, fitness and dedication to action-packed roles. While many celebrities follow strict diets and carefully planned fitness programmes, the veteran actor has revealed a rather different approach to staying healthy.
Ahead of the release of his upcoming film Batwara 1947, Sunny Deol opened up about his daily routine, workout schedule and food habits. His fitness philosophy is surprisingly simple: wake up early, exercise consistently and enjoy food without obsessing over restrictive diets.
Sunny Deol Wakes Up At 5:30 AM
One of the most interesting parts of Sunny Deol's routine is his early start to the day.
The actor revealed that he generally wakes up at around 5:30 AM, before sunrise. According to him, this has become an automatic part of his lifestyle rather than something he has to force himself to do.
After waking up, he starts exercising, combining cardio and weight training as part of his morning routine. His workout can continue for around one to two hours.
No Strict Diet, Samosa And Desi Ghee Still On The Menu
Sunny Deol's food philosophy may be the biggest surprise for fans.
The actor admitted that he has tried dieting but eventually found himself eating foods such as samosas and parathas prepared with desi ghee. Rather than following an extremely restrictive diet, he appears to focus more on staying active and exercising consistently.
He also recalled how food habits have changed between generations, saying that when he was younger, he could eat considerably more without worrying about his diet.
He Doesn't Want A Bulky Body
Sunny Deol also explained that his objective is not to build an extremely muscular or bulky physique.
For him, exercise is primarily about feeling healthy, energetic and active. He said that he does not exercise simply to look like somebody else and instead enjoys the process of working out.
This approach has allowed him to maintain the physical energy required for action roles even at 68.
Fitness Is Still A Part Of His Daily Life
Sunny's consistency appears to be the most important part of his fitness philosophy.
Rather than relying solely on a short-term diet before a film, he has maintained exercise as a regular part of his lifestyle. His combination of early mornings, cardio and weight training has helped him remain physically active while continuing to take on demanding roles.
The actor is currently preparing for Batwara 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. The period drama also features Karan Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khushi Hajare and Kanikka Kapur and is scheduled to release in theatres on August 14, 2026.
Sunny Deol's Fitness Mantra Is All About Consistency
Sunny Deol's routine offers a glimpse into how the veteran star continues to maintain his action-hero image decades into his career.
His approach isn't based on completely eliminating his favourite foods. Instead, regular exercise, an early start and an active lifestyle appear to be the foundation of his routine.
At an age when many actors reduce physically demanding work, Sunny Deol continues to embrace action roles—and his latest fitness revelations show why he remains ready for the challenge.
Note: Celebrity fitness and dietary routines are individual and shouldn't be treated as universal health advice.
