Shreyaa Chaudhry is all set to take a major step forward in her acting career. The Bandish Bandits and The Mehta Boys actor has been cast opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in the upcoming theatrical film Mupapa. Directed by Sameer Saxena, the film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on February 19, 2027.
The announcement comes at an important point in Chaudhry’s career, as the actor moves from being recognised largely for streaming projects to taking on a prominent theatrical release backed by two notable production houses, Yash Raj Films and Posham Pa Pictures.
From Bandish Bandits to the Big Screen
Although Shreyaa Chaudhry made her film debut with Dear Maya in 2017, her biggest breakthrough came through Prime Video’s musical drama Bandish Bandits. She played Tamanna Sharma in the series and returned for its second season, earning appreciation for her natural and emotionally layered performance.
She was subsequently seen in The Mehta Boys, Boman Irani’s directorial debut, alongside Irani and Avinash Tiwary. The project further showcased her ability to handle more nuanced characters.
Now, Mupapa gives her an opportunity to bring that experience to a much larger theatrical platform.
Ayushmann Khurrana and Shreyaa Chaudhry’s Fresh Pairing
One of the biggest attractions of Mupapa is the fresh pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Shreyaa Chaudhry. The two actors have never shared the screen before, making their collaboration an interesting addition to Ayushmann’s filmography.
Ayushmann has consistently built his career around unconventional stories and distinctive characters. His association with Yash Raj Films also goes back to Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Meri Pyaari Bindu.
With Mupapa, he returns to YRF for another project while bringing a new co-star into his cinematic world.
What Is Mupapa About?
Interestingly, the makers are keeping the story of Mupapa tightly under wraps. Details about the characters played by Ayushmann and Shreyaa, as well as the rest of the cast, have not been revealed.
The project has been described as a genre-bending theatrical film that aims to offer audiences a new visual experience. This secrecy around the storyline has already created curiosity, particularly because the film brings together a commercially established actor and a performer who has developed a strong following through streaming.
Sameer Saxena, known for his work on the Netflix series Kaala Paani, is directing the film.
YRF Talent Signs Shreyaa Too
The Mupapa announcement comes with another significant development for Shreyaa. She has also signed with YRF Talent, the talent-management arm of Yash Raj Films.
This puts her on the same talent roster as several established names, including Rani Mukerji, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sonam Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sharvari, among others. For an actor still building her theatrical identity, the association could open doors to a wider range of opportunities across cinema, endorsements and other areas of entertainment.
YRF and Posham Pa Pictures Join Hands
Mupapa also marks the first theatrical collaboration between Yash Raj Films and Posham Pa Pictures.
The film is being produced by Akshaye Widhani, CEO of Yash Raj Films, along with Posham Pa Pictures. The production banner was co-founded by Sameer Saxena, Biswapati Sarkar, Saurabh Khanna and Amit Golani.
Posham Pa Pictures has previously been associated with projects such as Kaala Paani. With Mupapa, the banner is expanding its presence from streaming-led content into theatrical cinema.
Mupapa Release Date
Mupapa is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 19, 2027. While the makers are yet to reveal the film’s plot and character details, the combination of Ayushmann Khurrana, Shreyaa Chaudhry, Sameer Saxena and Yash Raj Films has already made the project one to watch.
For Shreyaa, however, the film could prove even more important. After gaining recognition through Bandish Bandits and The Mehta Boys, a major theatrical project with Ayushmann could mark the beginning of a new chapter in her Bollywood journey.
