Shraddha Kapoor Reveals Why She Rejected Films After Stree 2 Despite Big Offers

Shraddha Kapoor has revealed why she did not sign any films after the blockbuster success of Stree 2. The actress said she received several offers and attractive fees but decided to wait for the right story. She will next be seen in Eetha, a biographical drama based on the life of legendary Lavani performer Vithabai Narayangaonkar.

Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor has finally opened up about the reason behind her decision to stay away from signing new films after the success of Stree 2. While fans were eagerly waiting to see what she would do next, the actress revealed that she had received several film offers, including projects with attractive financial deals. However, she chose not to rush into another project and decided to wait for a story that truly excited her.

Shraddha shared these details during a recent Instagram question-and-answer session with her followers. A fan asked her to offer advice to young women about building their careers. Instead of giving general advice, the actress used her own professional journey as an example.

Why Shraddha Kapoor Did Not Sign Films After Stree 2

Responding to the question, Shraddha explained that she had made a conscious decision after Stree 2. Despite receiving multiple offers and good money, she did not want to sign a film simply because an opportunity was available.

She said that she had decided not to accept any project until she found the perfect story. According to the actress, her instincts told her to remain patient, even if that meant waiting longer than expected.

Shraddha also admitted that waiting for a project she genuinely wanted to work on was not easy. However, she now feels proud of the decision she made.

The actress encouraged young women to listen to their inner voice while making career choices. She believes that patience can be difficult, but following what feels right can ultimately be worthwhile.

Her statement offers a glimpse into how she approaches her career. Rather than focusing on the number of films she signs or the money being offered, Shraddha appears to be prioritising the story and the character.

Stree 2 Became a Major Box Office Success

Released in August 2024, Stree 2 became one of the biggest commercial successes of the year. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the horror-comedy featured Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao in the lead roles.

The film also starred Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee. Akshay Kumar's special appearance added another major talking point.

The sequel continued the story of Chanderi, where a new supernatural threat emerged in the form of Sarkata. Combining horror, comedy and elements of folklore, the film attracted audiences to theatres and strengthened the popularity of Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe.

Following its success, expectations surrounding Shraddha's next project increased. However, the actress chose to take her time rather than immediately sign another film.

Eetha Marks Shraddha Kapoor's Next Big-Screen Appearance

After waiting for the right opportunity, Shraddha is now preparing for her next film, Eetha. The upcoming project is directed by Laxman Utekar, known for films such as Mimi and Chhaava.

In the film, Shraddha will portray Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, a celebrated Lavani and Tamasha performer from Maharashtra. The story is inspired by the life of the legendary artist and her remarkable journey in the world of traditional folk performance.

One of the most extraordinary episodes associated with Vithabai's life reportedly involved her going into labour during a stage performance. She is said to have delivered her baby backstage before returning to perform. This remarkable incident is among the stories that make her life particularly compelling.

The film also features Randeep Hooda, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Siddharth Jadhav, Ishtiyak Khan and Anant Joshi in important roles.

Produced under the banners of Maddock Films and Kathputli Creations, Eetha is scheduled to release in theatres on December 4, 2026.

Shraddha Chooses the Story Over the Paycheque

Shraddha Kapoor's latest revelation highlights a different approach to career decisions in an industry where actors often face pressure to maintain a regular release schedule. Her decision to turn down lucrative offers suggests that she wanted her next project to offer something more meaningful than just another film credit.

With Eetha, the actress is stepping into a different cinematic world after the success of the Stree franchise. The film gives her an opportunity to portray a real-life personality and explore the traditional performing arts of Maharashtra.

Whether this wait leads to another major success remains to be seen. For now, Shraddha seems satisfied that she trusted her instincts and chose a project that connected with her.
