Fans have been eagerly waiting to see what happens next in Farzi, and the second season has now received a major casting update. Actress Yukti Thareja has been confirmed as the female lead opposite Shahid Kapoor in Farzi Season 2.
The upcoming season is being directed by the acclaimed duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, popularly known as Raj & DK. Shahid Kapoor will return as Sunny, the talented artist who becomes involved in the dangerous world of counterfeit currency. Yukti's entry brings a fresh face and a new character into Sunny's increasingly complicated world.
Yukti Thareja Confirmed as Farzi 2 Female Lead
Yukti Thareja has officially confirmed that she will play the main female lead in Farzi Season 2. According to the latest report, the actress described her role as a central female protagonist and revealed that most of her scenes are with Shahid Kapoor.
This marks an important addition to the show's cast as the new season prepares to continue the story established in the first instalment.
Yukti's character is reportedly written as a fearless young woman who is not afraid to challenge the system. The role is expected to have considerable depth and importance within the new storyline.
All Eyes on Shahid Kapoor and Yukti Thareja's Chemistry
One of the biggest talking points surrounding Farzi 2 will be the pairing of Shahid Kapoor and Yukti Thareja.
Shahid returns as Sunny, while Yukti enters the story as a new central character. Since the actress has revealed that most of her scenes are with Shahid, their on-screen dynamic could become one of the new season's key elements.
However, the makers have not revealed all the details about her character yet, leaving fans curious about how exactly she will become connected to Sunny's world.
Who Is Yukti Thareja?
Yukti Thareja has been steadily building her career across music videos, television and streaming projects.
She first gained widespread attention after appearing in the popular music video “Lut Gaye,” featuring Emraan Hashmi and sung by Jubin Nautiyal. The song became a huge digital success and introduced Yukti to a much wider audience.
Since then, she has explored acting opportunities in different formats.
Her credits include Hai Junoon! Dream. Dare. Dominate and Delhi Crime Season 3. She has also been associated with the Malayalam action film Marco.
Yukti Has Already Shot Most of Her Farzi 2 Portion
The latest update suggests that viewers will not have to wait for Yukti's scenes to be filmed from scratch.
The actress has reportedly completed around 80% of her portion for the second season, with approximately 20% still remaining.
This indicates that production on Farzi 2 has progressed considerably since Shahid Kapoor and the makers officially announced the second season earlier this year.
Shahid had confirmed the beginning of production in February, while reports subsequently revealed that filming was underway.
Shahid Kapoor Returns as Sunny
Shahid Kapoor's return is one of the biggest reasons behind the excitement surrounding Farzi 2.
The first season introduced audiences to Sunny, a talented artist who turns to counterfeiting after discovering that he can create almost perfect fake currency. His journey eventually brings him into conflict with law enforcement as well as powerful criminals.
The first season ended with several major questions left unanswered, giving the makers plenty of room to expand Sunny's story.
Shahid officially confirmed the second season in February 2026 by sharing a picture with Raj & DK and writing, “The fakers are back at it.”
What Could Happen in Farzi Season 2?
The makers have kept the detailed plot of the upcoming season under wraps.
However, the new season is expected to continue the story of Sunny and his close friend Firoz, played by Bhuvan Arora. At the same time, the conflict involving Vijay Sethupathi's police officer Michael Vedanayagam and Kay Kay Menon's crime lord Mansoor Dalal remains an important part of the show's larger narrative.
The addition of Yukti Thareja introduces another major character into this world, but the exact nature of her connection with Sunny has not yet been fully revealed.
Raj & DK Return to the World of Farzi
Farzi was created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, who are also returning for the second season.
The first season premiered in 2023 and featured Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Raashii Khanna, Kay Kay Menon and Bhuvan Arora in prominent roles. The series combined crime, dark humour and drama while focusing on the world of counterfeit currency.
The return of the original creative team means the show's distinctive storytelling style is expected to remain intact.
When Will Farzi Season 2 Release?
Farzi Season 2 is expected to arrive in 2027, although the exact release date has not been announced.
Yukti Thareja has reportedly indicated that the season is expected to release around the middle of 2027. Meanwhile, production and post-production work is continuing.
Considering the scale of an international OTT release, the makers are likely to take considerable time for editing, dubbing and other post-production requirements.
A New Chapter for Farzi
Yukti Thareja's casting adds a fresh dimension to one of India's most talked-about crime thrillers.
While Shahid Kapoor remains the central face of the series, the arrival of a new female protagonist could significantly change the dynamics of Sunny's story.
With production already underway, fans now have another reason to look forward to Farzi 2. The big question is no longer whether Sunny will return—it is what role Yukti Thareja's fearless new character will play in his dangerous world.
