While Shah Rukh Khan didn’t appear on screen, he lent his voice to the series. What astonished everyone was Khan’s decision to work on the project without charging a single penny, as revealed by director Kabir Khan in a recent interview.
A Heartfelt Gesture Towards a Friend
Speaking about Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement in the series, Kabir Khan shared, “When I created ‘The Forgotten Army’ and thought of the 30-second introduction before each episode, I wanted a voice-over that could provide historical context. I thought, who better than Shah Rukh Khan for this task? I just called him and asked, ‘Shah Rukh, I have made a series on the Azad Hind Fauj, will you lend your voice to it?’ Without hesitation, he immediately agreed.”
Kabir Khan expressed his gratitude for Khan’s decision, stating, “He came to the dubbing studio in Bandra one day and provided the voice-over for free. He refused to accept any payment because we know each other.”
