Sandeep Reddy Vanga Praises Ranbir Kapoor and Yash in Ramayana Part 1: “Both Nailed It”

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has praised Ranbir Kapoor and Yash for their performances as Lord Rama and Ravana in Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana. Calling both actors commanding on screen, Vanga urged audiences to experience the film's scale and revealed that he loved the cinematic adaptation.

Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has joined the growing list of celebrities praising Ramayana: Part 1. The director, who previously worked with Ranbir Kapoor on Animal, has applauded the performances of Ranbir and Yash in Nitesh Tiwari's ambitious mythological epic.

Taking to X, Vanga shared his reaction to the film and described both lead actors as commanding in their respective roles. He also encouraged moviegoers to watch the film to experience the scale and magnitude of the legendary characters of Ram and Ravana.

His appreciation has attracted attention, particularly because Vanga has previously directed Ranbir in a very different and intense role in Animal.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga Calls Ranbir and Yash Commanding

In his post on X, Sandeep Reddy Vanga directly praised Ranbir Kapoor and Yash for their performances as Lord Rama and Ravana.

He wrote, "Want to experience the magnitude of Ram and Raavana? Please go watch Ramayana. Ranbir amd Yash — both nailed it bone-deep. Made their presence absolutely commanding. I loved it. I have never known a producer to be this committed."

The filmmaker's comments highlighted the impact created by the two actors and the scale of the production. Rather than singling out one performer, Vanga appreciated both Ranbir and Yash, suggesting that their contrasting characters make the film's central conflict especially powerful.

He also acknowledged the commitment of the film's producer, Namit Malhotra, whose ambitious vision has been central to bringing the epic to the big screen.

Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana

In Ramayana, Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Kannada superstar Yash portrays Ravana. Both characters are central to the epic's narrative, with their contrasting personalities and eventual confrontation forming the heart of the story.

Ranbir's portrayal of Lord Rama has attracted attention for its restrained approach. The actor has previously spoken about the responsibility of playing a character who holds immense cultural and spiritual significance for millions of people.

Yash, meanwhile, brings Ravana to the screen. The character is known in the epic as a powerful ruler, scholar and warrior. His portrayal has become one of the major talking points surrounding the film.

Vanga's reaction is notable because he has praised the performances of both actors together. His comments also reflect the importance of presenting the two central figures with the scale and screen presence their characters demand.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Association With Ranbir Kapoor

Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Ranbir Kapoor previously collaborated on Animal, released in 2023. The crime drama became one of the most discussed films of the year and featured Ranbir in an intense and violent role.

The actor's performance in the film received significant attention, and his transformation into Lord Rama represents a striking contrast in terms of character and presentation.

Vanga's appreciation of Ranbir's performance in Ramayana has therefore caught the attention of cinema fans. The director's latest comments suggest that he was impressed by the actor's ability to portray a character with a completely different emotional and moral framework.

The filmmaker has also praised the larger cinematic vision behind Ramayana, adding to the positive industry response around the film.

Other Celebrities Praise Ramayana

Sandeep Reddy Vanga is not the only film personality to share positive comments about Ramayana. Several celebrities, including Rashmika Mandanna, Karan Johar, Allu Arjun, Vijay Deverakonda and Atlee, have also expressed appreciation for the film.

Rashmika shared a special message for Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, while Vijay Deverakonda described the project as a giant leap for Indian cinema.

The film has also received a strong rating from ETimes, which awarded it 4.5 out of 5 stars. Its review particularly appreciated Ranbir Kapoor's portrayal of Lord Rama, noting the controlled performance and the contrast with his character in Animal.

About Ramayana: Part 1

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana: Part 1 features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita and Yash as Ravana. The ensemble cast also includes Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, alongside several other actors.
