Actor Ravie Dubey is preparing for one of the biggest milestones of his career as he steps into the role of Lakshmana in Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated film Ramayana. Sharing the screen with Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, the actor is set to enter a new phase of his professional journey. College Failures and a Difficult Phase
Ravie moved to Mumbai in 2001 to pursue engineering. Although he had been a brilliant student during his school years, college turned out to be a difficult experience.
During a TEDx conversation, the actor revealed that he failed in four out of five subjects in his first semester. The situation remained similar in the second semester, eventually forcing him to return to Gurugram.
The academic setbacks also affected his mental health. In an earlier interview with ABP News, Ravie spoke about how people's comments about his failure made the situation even more difficult.
He admitted that during that vulnerable phase, he had contemplated suicide. Looking back, he expressed gratitude that he did not act on those thoughts.
In another conversation with Pinkvilla, the actor explained that his struggle was not simply about failing examinations. He felt that there was no clear direction or path forward in life. He described that period as one in which he was mentally exhausted and struggled to find purpose.
With time, however, he gradually regained confidence. He also credited spirituality for helping him develop a stronger outlook towards life.
Ravie Dubey's Struggled to Afford Even Three Meals
Ravie's financial condition became particularly challenging when he started trying to establish himself in the entertainment industry.
After realising that engineering was not the right career for him, he explored journalism and began auditioning for advertisements. His first major opportunity came in 2005 when he appeared in a bike advertisement directed by Shoojit Sircar. He reportedly received Rs 10,000 for the project.
Despite earning his first cheque, regular work was not immediately available. The actor revealed that he had decided not to take financial support from his parents because they had already spent a considerable amount on his education.
He kept his financial difficulties private and did not tell his family that he was struggling to afford food. During this period, friends and people around him supported him by bringing meals.
This phase became one of the toughest chapters of his life, but it also taught him independence and resilience.
First Television Show Changed His Life
Ravie's fortunes began to change in 2006 when he landed the lead role in the television show Stree Yeh Teri Kahani. The show was produced by legendary actor Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu.
For Ravie, the opportunity was particularly special because it allowed him to interact closely with Dilip Kumar. It also marked the beginning of his professional journey in television.
He later appeared in several popular shows, including Saas Bina Sasural. However, the 2014 television series Jamai Raja proved to be a major turning point, establishing him as a recognised television star.
He also participated in reality shows such as Nach Baliye and Khatron Ke Khiladi, while taking up hosting assignments.
Sargun Mehta Became His Biggest Support
Ravie met actress Sargun Mehta in 2009 while working on the television show 12/24 Karol Bagh. Their friendship gradually developed into a relationship, and the couple got married in 2013.
The actor has frequently spoken about Sargun's positive influence on his life. He has credited her optimism and support for helping him pursue his dreams.
In 2016, the couple took another important step by launching their production company, Dreamiyata Entertainment Pvt Ltd. The company expanded from television production into digital entertainment and Punjabi films.
Its projects include television shows such as Udaariyaan and Punjabi films like Saunkan Saunkne. Their combined professional ventures have contributed significantly to their financial success.
