Its upcoming theatrical re-release is giving fans another opportunity to revisit the film, while introducing its music and memorable moments to a younger generation.
Raveena Tandon Recalls the Success of ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’
In a recent interaction, Raveena reflected on the experience of shooting ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’. She recalled that the atmosphere on the sets was full of energy and that the team thoroughly enjoyed filming the song.
The actress admitted that she had never imagined the track would become such an iconic part of her career. Its popularity gradually extended far beyond the film, with audiences embracing it at parties, celebrations and dance events.

Raveena said she realised the song had connected with people on a massive scale when she began seeing audiences dancing to it everywhere. Even after several decades, the track continues to receive tremendous affection.
The song, featuring Raveena and Akshay Kumar, became one of the defining musical highlights of Mohra. Its popularity has remained strong across generations, making it an enduring part of Bollywood's musical legacy.
‘Mohra’ Returns to Cinemas in a Remastered 4K Version
Originally released on July 1, 1994, Mohra was directed by Rajiv Rai and produced by Gulshan Rai under the banner of Trimurti Films. The film is scheduled to return to theatres in a remastered 4K version on November 6, 2026.
The re-release announcement has generated interest among fans who remember the film for its combination of action, suspense, performances and memorable songs.
However, director Rajiv Rai has clarified that the film's return will be limited to single-screen theatres rather than major multiplex chains. He explained that the decision is part of an effort to bring older films back to audiences through a limited theatrical run.
The re-release is also timed close to the arrival of Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, which is scheduled to release on November 5. Rai has clarified that he does not consider Mohra's return a direct clash with the upcoming epic, pointing out that the two films will have different theatrical distribution plans.
What Made the 1994 Film So Memorable?
Mohra featured an ensemble cast led by Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar, Raveena Tandon and Naseeruddin Shah. The story revolves around Vishal Agnihotri, played by Suniel Shetty, a prisoner seeking justice for his wife's murder.
Journalist Roma Singh, portrayed by Raveena Tandon, helps secure his release. Vishal subsequently becomes involved with the influential Jindal, played by Naseeruddin Shah, while Inspector Amar Saxena, portrayed by Akshay Kumar, investigates a series of murders and uncovers a larger conspiracy.
The film also featured Paresh Rawal, Gulshan Grover, Raza Murad, Sadashiv Amrapurkar and several other familiar faces.
Its soundtrack, composed by Viju Shah, was another major attraction. Along with ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’, songs such as ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’ and ‘Na Kajare Ki Dhar’ became popular with listeners.
Raveena Tandon Misses the Simplicity of the 1990s
Beyond discussing Mohra, Raveena also reflected on what she misses about the decade. The actress said she misses the simplicity of the 1990s, when people could enjoy moments without the constant pressure of social media.

She also expressed happiness about seeing younger audiences discover the film's music. Her daughter, Rasha Thadani, is among the next generation enjoying songs that have remained close to Raveena's heart.
The actress also expressed interest in exploring more comedy films, describing comedy as challenging but rewarding when performed well.
As Mohra prepares for its return to the big screen, Raveena's memories underline why the film continues to hold a special place in Bollywood nostalgia. For longtime fans, the re-release is a chance to revisit a beloved 1990s entertainer, while younger viewers can experience its music and cinematic moments in theatres.
