Ranbir Kapoor Ramayana OTT Release: Film to Arrive on This Platform

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-starrer Ramayana: Part One will arrive on JioHotstar after its exclusive theatrical run through a pay-per-view model. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the ambitious cinematic adaptation of the epic is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, during Diwali.

The much-awaited film Ramayana: Part One, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana, is set to reach audiences beyond cinema halls through a special digital release strategy. The makers have partnered with JioHotstar to offer the film through a pay-per-view model after its exclusive theatrical window.

The announcement comes ahead of the film's planned worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, coinciding with the Diwali period. Unlike a conventional OTT release included in a standard subscription, the pay-per-view arrangement will allow viewers in India to purchase access to the film separately on the platform.

The move could give audiences who cannot visit cinemas an opportunity to watch the ambitious adaptation of the Ramayana from home.

Ramayana: Part One to Release on JioHotstar After Theatrical Run

Produced by Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios, Ramayana: Part One will first receive an exclusive theatrical release. Once its cinema window ends, the film will become available through JioHotstar's dedicated on-demand purchase offering.

The partnership between Prime Focus Studios and JioHotstar is intended to extend the film's reach across India. Viewers will be able to access the movie on supported devices, with playback quality depending on their devices and the platform's capabilities.

However, the makers have not yet announced the exact OTT release date or the price viewers will have to pay to watch the film online. The duration of its exclusive theatrical window has also not been officially specified.

What Is the Pay-Per-View Model?

The pay-per-view model differs from the usual subscription-based streaming arrangement. Under this system, viewers purchase access to a particular film or event separately rather than relying solely on a monthly or annual subscription.

For Ramayana: Part One, this means that simply having a regular JioHotstar subscription may not be enough to watch the film when it becomes available digitally. Viewers may need to make an additional payment to access the title, depending on the final terms announced by the platform.

The approach offers another way for the makers to distribute a major theatrical production while giving audiences flexibility over when and where they watch it.

Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi Lead the Cast

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is planned as a two-part live-action cinematic adaptation of the epic associated with Valmiki. The screenplay has been adapted by Shridhar Raghavan.

Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita. Yash takes on the role of Ravana, Sunny Deol appears as Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman.

The ensemble also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal.

The film is being produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with visual effects studio DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. With an extensive cast and an international creative team, the project is among the major Indian film productions planned for 2026.

Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman Join the Music Team

One of the film's major talking points is its music collaboration between Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman. The two composers are working on the soundtrack for the cinematic adaptation, bringing together different musical backgrounds for a story deeply rooted in Indian cultural tradition.

The production team also includes Ravi Bansal and Ramsey Avery for production design, while Terry Notary and Guy Norris are handling action choreography.

The makers are preparing the film for a worldwide theatrical launch, including IMAX 3D screenings. The film is scheduled to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English.

Ramayana: Part One Release Date and OTT Details

Ramayana: Part One is scheduled to arrive in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026. Its digital release on JioHotstar will follow the exclusive theatrical window, but the precise streaming date and pay-per-view price remain unannounced.

For now, audiences can look forward to the theatrical release during Diwali before the film becomes available through the platform's separate purchase option. The announcement also signals a different approach to digital distribution for one of the year's most anticipated Indian films.
