The makers of Ramayana have reportedly finalised distribution arrangements across all four major South Indian markets, marking an important step ahead of the film’s highly anticipated theatrical release. The big-budget adaptation of the Indian epic, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Ravana, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on November 5, 2026.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, prominent regional distributors have been assigned territories across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The arrangement brings together established industry players with experience in handling major Indian releases.
The distribution strategy is particularly significant for a film of Ramayana’s scale, as its performance across different language markets could play a major role in determining its overall box-office success.
Dil Raju Acquires Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Rights
Producer and distributor Dil Raju’s Sri Venkateswara Creations will reportedly handle the release of Ramayana in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Dil Raju has considerable experience in the Telugu film industry and has also distributed major Hindi films in the region. His previous association with Ranbir Kapoor includes Brahmastra (2022) and Animal (2023).
At a promotional event in Hyderabad, Dil Raju reportedly expressed hope that Ramayana would become another successful collaboration with Ranbir, completing a hat-trick following the two earlier films.
The Telugu-speaking markets are important territories for large-scale Indian productions, particularly those featuring prominent stars and stories with broad cultural appeal. Dil Raju’s involvement could help the film establish a strong presence in these regions.
Yash Takes Charge of Karnataka Distribution
One of the most notable aspects of the distribution plan is Yash’s involvement in the Karnataka market. The KGF star, who plays Ravana in Ramayana, will reportedly distribute the film in his home state through his company, Monster Mind Creations.
Yash’s association gives the film a direct connection to the Kannada-speaking market, where he enjoys a substantial fan following following the success of the KGF franchise.
Trade circles have also speculated that Yash may have waived his acting fee in exchange for acquiring the Karnataka distribution rights. However, Bollywood Hungama reported that it could not independently verify this claim, and it should not be treated as confirmed information.
His distribution role nevertheless makes Karnataka an especially interesting market to watch when the film opens in theatres.
Think Studios and E4 Entertainment Handle Tamil Nadu and Kerala
The remaining two South Indian territories have also reportedly been assigned to established distribution companies.
Think Studios, operated by Swaroop Reddy under SNS Movie Production, will handle the Tamil Nadu release. The company has previously been associated with films including Yash’s Toxic and Vijay Sethupathi’s Maharaja.
Meanwhile, E4 Entertainment, headed by Mukesh Mehta, will reportedly distribute Ramayana in Kerala. The company has experience with major Indian releases, including Pushpa: The Rule, Animal and Pushpa: The Rise.
These partnerships give the film access to distributors familiar with local theatrical markets, regional promotion and the release requirements of large productions.
North India and Overseas Distribution Already in Place
The South Indian arrangements complete a wider distribution network that includes other important markets.
According to the report, Dharma Productions will handle distribution across North India, while Sony Pictures will manage overseas markets. Together with the newly reported South Indian partners, these arrangements give Ramayana a distribution structure covering major domestic circuits and international territories.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the film features an ensemble cast that includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Yash.
The film is envisioned as a large-scale, two-part cinematic adaptation of the Ramayana. Its first instalment is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026.
Can the Distribution Strategy Boost Ramayana’s Box Office?
With established distributors handling different territories, Ramayana is positioning itself for a wide theatrical rollout. Local partners can help coordinate regional marketing, screen allocation and audience outreach, all of which matter for a film targeting multiple language markets.
However, a strong distribution network does not automatically guarantee box-office success. Advance bookings, audience reception, screen availability and competition at the time of release will also influence the film’s performance.
With its November 5 release approaching, the focus will now shift towards promotional activity, advance ticket sales and the film’s opening across India and overseas markets.
