The excitement surrounding Ramayana: Part 1 has grown following the unveiling of its international trailer in Bengaluru on October 15. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, the ambitious mythological epic offers a fresh look at Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash as Ravana, setting the stage for a dramatic confrontation between the two central characters.
The new trailer marks the beginning of a wider international promotional campaign led by Sony Pictures. With large-scale battle sequences, elaborate settings and visual effects, the film aims to bring the celebrated Indian epic to audiences across the world.
Ranbir Kapoor as Rama and Yash as Ravana
One of the biggest highlights of the international trailer is the contrast between Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of Rama and Yash’s imposing interpretation of Ravana. The preview presents Rama as a righteous figure whose destiny places him at the centre of a battle against a growing threat.
Yash’s Ravana, meanwhile, is introduced as a powerful ruler determined to make others submit to his authority. His declaration, “Before me, every head will bow,” establishes the character’s ambition and creates the dramatic foundation for the conflict.
The trailer builds towards glimpses of the confrontation between Rama and Ravana, presenting their struggle as a battle that extends beyond two individuals. The conflict is portrayed as a larger contest between opposing forces, with the fate of the world at stake.
Kunal Kapoor Appears as Lord Indra
The international trailer also offers a glimpse of Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra, adding another important character to the film’s mythological world. His appearance expands the scale of the narrative and provides a look at the celestial dimension of the story.
The preview begins by establishing a mythical era in which humans and gods coexist before darkness begins to threaten the established order. It then shifts towards Ravana’s rise and the growing danger associated with his power.
These sequences suggest that the film will combine familiar elements of the Ramayana with a large-scale cinematic presentation designed for contemporary audiences.
Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol and Ravi Dubey Complete the Cast
Sai Pallavi plays Sita, while Ravi Dubey portrays Lakshman and Sunny Deol appears as Hanuman. Their characters form an important part of the larger narrative surrounding Rama’s journey.
The trailer offers glimpses of Sita and the world surrounding the central conflict, while the film’s ensemble cast adds depth to its retelling of the epic.
The casting has attracted considerable attention because the project brings together performers from different backgrounds and generations. With Ranbir Kapoor and Yash leading the central conflict, the supporting cast will help bring the wider mythological story to the screen.
Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman Create the Musical Landscape
Another major feature of Ramayana is its music, composed by Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and Indian music maestro A. R. Rahman.
The collaboration brings together two composers with distinct musical backgrounds. Their work is expected to contribute to the film’s atmosphere, emotional moments and large-scale sequences.
The trailer uses an expansive musical presentation to accompany its imagery of ancient landscapes, grand architecture and battles. Alongside the visual effects, the score helps establish the epic tone of the film.
The visual effects are being handled by DNEG, the studio known for its work on major international productions. The film has also been designed for an IMAX presentation, underlining the makers’ emphasis on a large-screen experience.
Ramayana Part 1 Release Date Confirmed
Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled to release worldwide in cinemas on November 5, 2026. The film will arrive in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam in India, with an international distribution campaign led by Sony Pictures.
The project is being produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Dharma Productions is handling distribution in the Hindi-speaking market.
The makers have planned the story as a two-part cinematic saga. The second instalment is scheduled to arrive during Diwali 2027.
A Major Mythological Film Heads Towards Its Release
The international trailer gives audiences a clearer look at the scale and central conflict of Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation. Ranbir Kapoor’s Rama and Yash’s Ravana occupy the spotlight, while Kunal Kapoor’s appearance as Indra adds another dimension to the story.
With an ensemble cast, music by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman, and extensive visual effects, Ramayana: Part 1 is preparing for a major theatrical launch. The film’s worldwide release on November 5 will bring its interpretation of the ancient epic to cinema audiences in India and international markets.
