Bollywood News: The much-awaited Ramayana has officially received a new identity. The first instalment of Nitesh Tiwari’s ambitious two-part epic is now titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. Along with the title announcement, the makers have unveiled a new poster confirming the film’s November 6, 2026 international theatrical release.
The announcement has added another major milestone to one of the most closely watched Indian film projects, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana.
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend Gets Official Title
Until now, the project has largely been referred to simply as Ramayana or Ramayana Part 1. The makers have now officially titled the first chapter Ramayana: Rise of a Legend.
The new title reflects the film’s focus on the beginning of Rama’s legendary journey while also establishing the project as the first chapter of a larger cinematic adaptation.
The official poster carries the release information and presents the film as a large-scale theatrical event. The movie is being designed for a global audience, with international distribution being handled by Sony Pictures.
November 6 Release Confirmed For International Markets
The new announcement confirms November 6, 2026 as the international theatrical release date for Ramayana: Rise of a Legend.
The release strategy had already been explained by producer Namit Malhotra. According to his earlier clarification, international markets will receive the film on November 6, while the Indian release is being targeted around Diwali on November 8.
The two-day difference is linked to the international theatrical calendar and the makers’ plan to release the film in India during the Diwali period.
Ranbir Kapoor Plays Lord Ram
Ranbir Kapoor takes on the role of Lord Ram in Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. The actor’s casting has been one of the biggest talking points since the project was announced.
A recently released behind-the-scenes video also gave audiences a glimpse of Ranbir’s preparation for the role, including his physical and action training for the epic.
The film aims to present the story on an international cinematic scale while retaining the central characters and narrative drawn from the ancient epic.

Sai Pallavi plays Sita opposite Ranbir Kapoor’s Ram, while Yash portrays Ravana.
The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman. The combination of prominent Bollywood and South Indian stars has generated considerable interest around the project.
The second instalment is expected to continue the larger narrative, with the makers planning Ramayana Part 2 for the Diwali period in 2027.
Nitesh Tiwari Directs The Epic
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is directed by Nitesh Tiwari, known for films including Dangal. The project is being produced by Namit Malhotra and mounted through Prime Focus Studios, Monster Mind Creations and DNEG.
The production brings together an international technical team, particularly for its visual effects. DNEG, the Oscar-winning visual effects company led by Namit Malhotra, is associated with the film’s large-scale visual work.
Hans Zimmer And A.R. Rahman Handle The Music
The film also features an international musical collaboration. Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and Indian music maestro A.R. Rahman are associated with the project’s music and score.
Their involvement has further added to the global positioning of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend.
International And Indian Versions
The makers are also reportedly preparing different cuts for Indian and international audiences. Recent reports stated that the English version could be around 30 minutes shorter than the Hindi-language version, with some songs and scenes trimmed for overseas audiences.
This approach reflects the project’s attempt to reach audiences beyond India while retaining a version tailored to Indian theatrical viewers.
