Rakul Preet Singh Denies IT Raid Links, Calls Reports False

Rakul Preet Singh has broken her silence on reports linking her to recent Income Tax searches in Mumbai. The actress has denied involvement in illegal foreign remittances or benami property and said the search was not related to her

Rakul Preet Singh has responded to reports linking her name to recent Income Tax searches in Mumbai. The actress has strongly denied any involvement in the matter and said that the search action was not pertaining to her.

Taking to social media, Rakul addressed reports that had connected her with an Income Tax investigation involving suspected financial irregularities and overseas transactions linked to the film industry. She described some of the coverage as false, malicious and speculative and urged media outlets to verify facts before publishing reports about her.

The clarification comes days after the Income Tax Department reportedly conducted searches at around 12 locations in Mumbai connected to people and entities associated with the film industry.

Rakul Denies Illegal Foreign Remittances

One of the strongest points in Rakul's statement was her denial of any involvement in illegal foreign remittances.

The actress said she was not involved in any such transactions either in her personal capacity or on behalf of any production house. She also emphasised that she has been paying her taxes since the age of 20 and described herself as a responsible, law-abiding citizen.

Rakul further denied allegations surrounding benami property. She said she does not hold any benami property for anyone in India or abroad. She also stated that nobody has ever gifted her property and that she does not accept expensive gifts as a matter of principle.

Her comments were aimed at drawing a clear distinction between her and the financial investigation being reported in sections of the media.

‘The Search Was Not Pertaining to Me’

Rakul's central clarification was that the Income Tax search itself was not related to her.

She criticised what she described as a growing tendency among some online reporters and sections of mainstream media to sensationalise information without verifying it. According to the actress, such reporting can have serious consequences for an individual's reputation and professional life.

She also appealed to publications that had carried what she considered inaccurate reports to retract them and issue clarifications.

What Was the Income Tax Investigation About?

The Income Tax Department had reportedly conducted searches at 12 locations in Mumbai on September 28. The locations were reported to be connected with Rakul, filmmaker and producer Vashu Bhagnani, and Panorama Studios.

According to reports, officials were examining financial documents, bank records and transactions as part of an investigation into suspected irregularities involving film financing and alleged overseas movement of funds.

However, publicly available reports have not established any wrongdoing by Rakul. No specific charge or formal finding against the actress has been announced in connection with the searches. A search by an investigative agency, by itself, does not establish guilt or confirm that an individual has committed an offence.

Rakul Says Reputation Should Not Be Affected

The actress also spoke about the impact such reports can have on a person's reputation and livelihood.

While acknowledging that media organisations operate under commercial pressures, Rakul argued that those pressures should not come at the cost of factual reporting. Her statement appeared aimed at correcting what she believes was an inaccurate connection between her and the Income Tax investigation.

The actress's response has since received attention across entertainment and news platforms, with several reports highlighting her denial and demand for clarification.

Rakul Preet Singh’s Professional Front

Despite the controversy surrounding the reports, Rakul continues to remain active professionally. The actress is part of the upcoming Ramayana, where she is set to play the role of Shurpanakha.

Her latest clarification comes at a time when she is also preparing for major projects, making the issue particularly significant from a professional and reputational perspective.

For now, Rakul's position is clear: she denies involvement in illegal foreign remittances, rejects claims about benami property and maintains that the Income Tax search being reported was not related to her. Meanwhile, the broader financial investigation remains a separate matter, with authorities yet to publicly disclose definitive findings establishing wrongdoing by the actress.
