Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth will be seen together after 33 years in the Tamil action thriller Vettaiyan. At the audio launch of the film, Rajinikanth praised Amitabh Bachchan and shared a story of the time when Big B was burdened with heavy debts. To clear his loans, Amitabh worked tirelessly for 18 hours a day, even selling his home to make ends meet.

Amitabh’s Financial Struggles

Rajinikanth spoke about how Amitabh Bachchan had launched his own company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL). Unfortunately, ABCL failed, resulting in heavy losses for the actor. Amitabh found himself drowning in debt and had to sell his Juhu home along with other properties in Mumbai. Despite his struggles, he continued working relentlessly, putting in 18-hour workdays to overcome the financial crisis.

Seeking Help from Yash Chopra in Disguise

Rajinikanth shared an anecdote about how Amitabh once wore a monkey cap to hide his identity and went to filmmaker Yash Chopra’s house, as he didn’t even have enough money to pay his driver. When Amitabh asked Yash for work, Yash immediately offered him a check, but Amitabh refused it. He said he would only accept the check if Yash gave him a job. This led to Amitabh being cast in Mohabbatein, which was a major turning point in his career. Soon after, he also received the offer to host Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), which brought him immense success.

Rajinikanth continued by explaining that despite facing several health issues, Amitabh kept working tirelessly. He accepted various advertisements, something that initially made people in the film industry laugh. However, over three years, he worked for 18 hours daily and gradually paid off all his debts. Not only did he reclaim his old house, but he also bought three more houses in the same area. At the age of 82, Amitabh still works for 10 hours a day, showcasing his incredible dedication and work ethic.
