Swades Was Originally Written for Aamir Khan
One of the biggest revelations from Hajee is that Swades was originally conceived for Aamir Khan. At the time, the project was titled Desh and was planned as Ashutosh Gowariker's next film after Lagaan.
Hajee recalled that Aamir was always the actor the team had in mind for the role that Shah Rukh ultimately played. The project was also initially connected with Aamir Khan Productions.
