Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi has recorded her statement before Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court in the ₹200-crore extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar. The actress appeared before the court on November 6, 2026, as a prosecution witness and shared details about her interaction with Chandrasekhar and his wife, Leena Maria Paulose.
During her testimony, Nora explained that she first came into contact with the couple through a charity event organised in Chennai in December 2020. She also told the court that she had been invited to the event by Leena and that her first interaction with Sukesh took place over a phone call.
Importantly, Nora is not an accused in the case. Her legal team had already clarified that she was summoned only as a witness to assist the court in the ongoing proceedings.
How Nora Fatehi Was Introduced to Sukesh Chandrasekhar
According to reports of her court testimony, Nora told the court that she had been booked to attend a charity event in Chennai in December 2020. The event was organised by Leena Maria Paulose and Nora was invited through an agency named Exceed Entertainment.
The actress said she met Leena for the first time at the event. While she was getting ready, members of her team informed her that Leena and her family members wanted to meet her.
Nora told the court that Leena subsequently introduced herself and mentioned that her husband wanted to speak to the actress. Leena then called Sukesh and put the phone on speaker.
During the conversation, Sukesh thanked Nora for attending the event. According to her statement, this was the first time she had spoken to him.
Nora Says She Was Not Paid for the Chennai Event
Another important detail that emerged during the proceedings concerned Nora's payment for the event.
The actress told the court that she did not receive any professional fee for attending the Chennai programme. However, her travel expenses and the costs of her accompanying staff were covered, including their flight arrangements.
She also informed the court that T-Series was her employer at the time and that she was in India on an employment visa associated with the company.
Nora's testimony provides details about the professional circumstances surrounding her visit to Chennai and her subsequent interaction with Leena and Sukesh.
Leena Mentioned a Car Gift During the Conversation
Nora also reportedly told the court that during the interaction, Leena mentioned that she wanted to gift the actress a car. Sukesh, who was speaking to her over the phone, also requested that she accept the gift.
The alleged car offer became an important part of the investigation into Nora's association with the couple. Earlier, the actress had told investigators about gifts received from Leena and a BMW car offered by Sukesh.
Investigators had also examined the possible involvement of Nora's relative, Bobby, in connection with the vehicle and discussions about potential business opportunities.
However, the actress's appearance in court was part of the prosecution's effort to establish the sequence of events and examine the connections relevant to the wider case.
Why Was Nora Fatehi Summoned by the Court?
Nora's appearance followed an earlier hearing on November 2, when she could not attend due to prior professional commitments. Her legal representatives requested exemption from personal appearance, explaining that she had received the summons at short notice.
The court subsequently adjourned the matter to November 6 and issued fresh summons for her appearance.
Before the hearing, Nora's legal team issued a clarification stating that she was neither an accused nor alleged to have committed any offence in the proceedings. The statement emphasised that she had been called solely as a witness.
The court recorded her examination-in-chief on November 6. Her further chief examination has been deferred to November 30, 2026.
What Is the ₹200-Crore Sukesh Chandrasekhar Case?
The case relates to allegations that Sukesh Chandrasekhar operated an extortion network while lodged in Delhi's Rohini Jail. He is accused of impersonating senior government officials and allegedly extorting approximately ₹200 crore from Aditi Singh, the wife of former Ranbaxy promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.
According to the allegations, Sukesh promised to help secure her husband's release from jail in exchange for money. The alleged extortion took place between 2020 and 2021.
The Delhi Police's Economic Offences Wing investigated the matter, and the case includes charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Chandrasekhar and other accused are facing legal proceedings.

Nora's testimony is relevant because investigators had earlier questioned her about her interactions with Sukesh and Leena. Her account is now being examined as part of the court proceedings.
The latest development puts the spotlight back on the high-profile case, but Nora's role remains that of a prosecution witness, not an accused.
