Sushant Singh Rajput Case Takes a New Turn: Australian Citizen AcquittedNo Evidence Against Paul Bartels

According to a report by the Times of India, the court accepted the acquittal plea for Paul Bartels, a friend of actor Arjun Rampal’s partner Gabriella’s brother, Agisilaos Demetriades. The court found no evidence against Bartels in the case.

It’s worth noting that following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested several individuals in connection with a drugs case, including Paul Bartels. Bartels was arrested on November 12, 2020. While others, like Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik, have been released on bail, the court has now allowed Bartels to be acquitted.

On August 9, Special Judge Mahesh Jadhav accepted Bartels’ petition under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Arrest Based on Co-Accused Statements

In defense of Paul Bartels, his lawyer argued that no evidence was found to prove any connection between Bartels and the co-accused in the case.

Bartels also stated that he was arrested based solely on the statements of co-accused Agisilaos Demetriades and Nikhil Saldanha. However, when the NCB conducted a thorough search, they found nothing incriminating at his residence.

The NCB had initially justified Bartels’ arrest by claiming he purchased drugs from the co-accused, which were allegedly linked to Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, and Sushant Singh Rajput.
