Veteran Bollywood actor Mushtaq Khan remained professionally active until shortly before his death. His son Mohsin Khan has revealed that the actor's last shoot took place on September 4 in Mumbai, despite his ongoing health problems.
According to Mohsin, Mushtaq shot scenes at Madh Island with Rajat Bedi, Chunky Pandey and Rajpal Yadav for Tarzan, the debut film of Abir Singh, son of Salman Khan's longtime bodyguard Shera.
The revelation offers a glimpse into how actively Mushtaq continued to work during the final weeks of his life. His death was confirmed by his family after he passed away at Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai on September 24.
Mohsin Khan Says His Father’s Health Worsened In Just 10 Days
Speaking about his father's final phase, Mohsin said Mushtaq had been ill for more than a year and had been receiving treatment. According to him, the actor had initially been responding well, but his condition changed dramatically during the final 10 days.
Mohsin said his father had been recovering before his health suddenly deteriorated. He also recalled that Mushtaq remained cheerful despite being hospitalised and said that he “went away smiling.”
At the funeral, Mohsin further explained that his father's cancer had initially been detected at an early stage but later became aggressive and progressed rapidly.
Mushtaq Khan Had Several Projects In The Pipeline
Mushtaq Khan had continued taking up acting assignments until very close to his death. Apart from Tarzan, his son revealed that the actor had completed work on a Telugu film titled Dada, directed by Gopichand Malineni. The film is expected to release in December.
He had also acted in a Hindi-Marathi film directed by his son Mohsin Khan, alongside actor Prathamesh Parab. The project has been completed, but Mushtaq had not yet dubbed his portions before his death.
Mohsin said the film is now intended to serve as a tribute to his father.
His Role In The Vvaan May Or May Not Be Included
Mushtaq Khan had also shot for The Vvaan, but Mohsin said he was unsure whether his father's scenes would ultimately be retained in the final version of the film.
The revelation has added another layer to the actor's final body of work, with several projects featuring performances completed before his health deteriorated.
Mohsin Khan Remembers Working With His Father
Although Mushtaq did not frequently appear in his son's projects, Mohsin said his father was always supportive of his filmmaking career.
The father-son duo had worked together on two television commercials, including projects featuring Rajpal Yadav and Paresh Rawal. Mushtaq later took on a proper acting role in Mohsin's Hindi-Marathi film, making the project particularly significant for the family.
Mohsin said the unfortunate part was that his father could not complete the dubbing for the film. The completed footage will now carry an emotional significance for the family and audiences.
Mushtaq Khan’s Final Conversation With His Son
Mohsin has also spoken about his father's attitude during his final days. In a conversation with ANI, he recalled Mushtaq expressing happiness and pride about the life he had lived.
According to Mohsin, his father felt proud of his work and hoped that his contribution had reached audiences. He remembered the actor as someone who remained positive despite his illness.
The family has also encouraged fans to remember Mushtaq for his work and the characters he brought to the screen rather than only focusing on his death.

Mushtaq Khan built a long career in Hindi cinema, appearing in films including Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Welcome, Aashiqui, Hera Pheri and several other popular projects. He became particularly recognisable for his supporting and comic performances.
His career also extended to television and OTT projects. Mohsin said his father had worked across hundreds of films and television episodes during his decades in the entertainment industry.
