Mirzapur The Movie Box Office Collection Day 1 Crosses ₹20 Crore

Mirzapur: The Movie has made a strong start at the box office, crossing ₹20 crore on Day 1. The Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal starrer is now eyeing a bigger weekend total.

The Mirzapur The Movie Box Office journey has started on a strong note. The much-awaited theatrical adaptation of the popular Mirzapur franchise arrived in cinemas on September 4, 2026, and managed to attract a significant audience on its opening day.

According to early industry estimates, the film crossed the ₹20 crore mark in India on Day 1, showing that the massive popularity of the streaming franchise has successfully translated into theatrical interest. At one stage on Friday evening, the film had earned around ₹17.28 crore net and ₹20.39 crore gross from 8,390 shows.

Later estimates indicated that the film's first-day India net collection could reach around ₹24.75 crore, with the gross collection approaching ₹29.70 crore. Since these numbers are based on early estimates, the final Day 1 figure may vary.

Mirzapur The Movie Gets a Powerful Opening

The opening is particularly significant because Mirzapur: The Movie is not built around a conventional Bollywood superstar. Instead, its biggest strength is the enormous fan base created by the original streaming series.

Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya, while Ali Fazal reprises his role as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu returns as Munna Tripathi. Their reunion has been one of the biggest attractions for fans.

Ravi Kishan is also part of the film, adding another popular face to the ensemble. The combination of familiar characters and a theatrical presentation appears to have encouraged many existing Mirzapur viewers to head to cinemas.

Day 1 Collection Beats Early Expectations

Before release, trade predictions had suggested that the film could open in the ₹20–25 crore range if audience interest converted strongly into ticket sales.

The initial numbers suggest that the movie is performing around or above those expectations.

According to Times of India, the film recorded an overall occupancy of approximately 42.81% across 11,135 shows, with occupancy improving considerably during the later part of the day.

The strong evening and night-show response helped push the film towards the ₹25 crore net territory.

Mirzapur The Movie Among 2026's Biggest Openers

The Mirzapur The Movie Box Office performance becomes even more noteworthy when compared with other Hindi releases of 2026.

Early estimates placed the movie's opening ahead of Awarapan 2, which had reportedly opened at around ₹21.50 crore. The film has therefore quickly entered the conversation around the year's strongest Hindi opening days.

Bollywood Hungama's early trade estimate put the opening in the ₹25–26 crore range, while noting that the film had exceeded earlier industry projections of approximately ₹15–20 crore.

The exact ranking may change as final figures for other releases and revised numbers become available, but the opening is clearly a significant milestone for the Mirzapur franchise.

Weekend Will Be Crucial

After a strong Friday, the next major test for Mirzapur: The Movie will be its first weekend.

A strong Saturday and Sunday could push the movie comfortably beyond the ₹50 crore mark, a figure that several early trade estimates had considered achievable for its opening weekend.

The film also has the advantage of an established fan base. However, its long runtime and A certification could limit its reach among younger viewers, making word of mouth and repeat audiences particularly important.

Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal Lead the Franchise to Theatres

Pankaj Tripathi's Kaleen Bhaiya remains one of the most recognizable characters from the franchise. Ali Fazal's Guddu Pandit, meanwhile, has developed into another major audience favourite.

The theatrical film brings several familiar faces back into the Mirzapur universe, including Rasika Dugal, Shweta Tripathi, Rajesh Tailang, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Sheeba Chadha and Abhishek Banerjee. Jitendra Kumar is also part of the new theatrical chapter, while Ravi Kishan adds another important presence to the cast.

Directed by Gurmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, the movie expands the world that audiences previously experienced through the streaming series.

Can Mirzapur Maintain the Momentum?

The opening-day performance has answered one major question: there is clearly strong theatrical demand for the Mirzapur brand.

Now, the real challenge is maintaining that momentum beyond Friday. If Saturday and Sunday show strong growth, the film could emerge as one of the notable Hindi box-office performers of 2026.

For now, the Mirzapur The Movie Box Office opening is a positive sign for the makers and the franchise. With early estimates pointing towards nearly ₹25 crore net and around ₹30 crore gross on Day 1, the film has given itself a strong foundation for the rest of its theatrical run.

Note: Box-office figures mentioned above are early/trade estimates and may be revised when final figures are reported
