The theatrical journey of Mirzapur The Movie is showing no signs of coming to an abrupt end. After a strong opening week, the film has entered its second week with the audience interest still holding up, even as weekday collections have naturally slowed.
The Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Ravi Kishan starrer completed 12 days in theatres on Tuesday, September 15. According to the latest trade figures, the film has crossed Rs 190 crore in India net collections, while its worldwide gross has moved beyond Rs 280 crore.
That puts the film within touching distance of two significant milestones — the Rs 200 crore India net mark and the Rs 300 crore worldwide club.
The exact figures vary slightly across tracking sources because box-office numbers are updated as reports from different markets come in. Bollywood Hungama, for instance, listed Day 12 at around Rs 4.43 crore India net, while Times of India reported a different estimate.
The Second Week Has Seen a Natural Slowdown
Like most successful theatrical releases, Mirzapur The Movie has witnessed a decline in weekday collections during its second week.
The film had a particularly strong first week, finishing the opening seven days with an India net collection of around Rs 148.45 crore, according to Times of India’s reported figures. Its second Friday brought in approximately Rs 9.50 crore, followed by Rs 13.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 13.25 crore on Sunday.
The Monday drop was sharper, with the film recording around Rs 5.50 crore net according to the same source.
Even so, the film's overall total remained substantial because of the strong numbers accumulated during its first week and second weekend.
Bollywood Hungama's tracking also showed the film continuing to draw audiences in its second week, with Day 12 occupancy reported at 21.72% across 6,727 shows.
Rs 200 Crore India Mark Is Now Within Reach
One of the biggest talking points surrounding the film is whether it can cross the Rs 200 crore India net milestone.
By the end of Day 11, Times of India reported an India net total of Rs 190.20 crore. Its Day 12 estimate then pushed the film further towards the milestone.
The pace has slowed compared with the opening days, but the film doesn't need the kind of daily numbers it recorded during its first weekend anymore. A few more steady days could be enough to take the franchise into the Rs 200 crore domestic net territory.
The performance is particularly notable because the film represents the transition of a hugely popular streaming franchise into cinemas.
Worldwide Numbers Tell Another Story
While the domestic total is approaching Rs 200 crore, the international market has helped push Mirzapur The Movie much closer to the Rs 300 crore worldwide milestone.
Times of India reported the worldwide gross at more than Rs 281 crore after Day 12, with overseas collections making a significant contribution to the overall tally.
Earlier in the run, the film had already crossed Rs 266 crore worldwide by the end of Day 10 according to the publication's tracking.
With the film continuing to earn in its second week, the Rs 300 crore worldwide figure has emerged as the next major target.
Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Ravi Kishan Lead the Franchise
The film's cast remains one of its biggest attractions.
Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya, while Ali Fazal reprises his role as Guddu Pandit. Ravi Kishan is also part of the ensemble, alongside several familiar faces from the Mirzapur universe.
The film also brings back Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi, a character whose return generated considerable excitement among fans of the original series.
Directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Puneet Krishna, Mirzapur The Movie expands the world of the popular crime franchise onto the big screen. It has been produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment.
The theatrical format also gives the franchise a larger canvas while retaining the characters and tone that helped establish Mirzapur as a major streaming property.
The OTT-to-Theatre Experiment Has Paid Off at the Box Office
One of the more interesting aspects of Mirzapur The Movie is the fact that it originated from an OTT franchise rather than beginning as a conventional theatrical film.
The original Mirzapur series developed a large following through its streaming seasons. Bringing its characters to cinemas therefore came with both an advantage and a challenge: the film already had a loyal audience, but it also had to convince viewers to pay for a theatrical experience.
The early box-office numbers suggest that the existing fan base translated into significant theatre footfall.
The film's opening and subsequent first-week performance established a strong foundation, allowing it to remain competitive even after entering its second week.
Can Mirzapur The Movie Reach the Rs 300 Crore Mark?
The worldwide total has now moved above Rs 280 crore according to the latest Times of India estimate, leaving roughly Rs 19 crore to reach the Rs 300 crore milestone.
Whether the film crosses that figure quickly will depend on its weekday hold, the second weekend and competition from other releases.
The domestic performance will also be closely watched because the film is simultaneously approaching the Rs 200 crore India net mark.
For now, the numbers show that the Mirzapur brand has successfully made the transition from streaming screens to theatres. The second-week slowdown is visible, but the film has already built a substantial worldwide total.
A New Milestone Awaits
After 12 days, Mirzapur The Movie remains firmly in the box-office conversation. Its next two milestones are clearly defined: Rs 200 crore net in India and Rs 300 crore worldwide.
The film's performance will now depend on how well it holds through the remainder of its second week and beyond. With its established fan base and a strong opening cushion, the coming days will determine just how far the Kaleen Bhaiya-led saga can travel on the big screen.
For now, Mirzapur The Movie continues to keep the box-office momentum alive.
