Meezaan Jafri on Career Struggles: “There’s Something Better in Store”

Actor Meezaan Jafri believes every setback can lead to a better opportunity. In an exclusive conversation with The Times of India, the actor opened up about the challenges of establishing himself in Bollywood, his selective approach to choosing projects and why he never compares his journey with anyone else's.

Actor Meezaan Jafri is approaching his career in Bollywood with patience, optimism and a clear understanding of his priorities. Rather than accepting projects simply to remain in the public eye, the actor says he prefers to wait for opportunities that genuinely interest him. In an exclusive interview with The Times of India, Meezaan spoke about the difficulties of building an identity in the film industry and explained why he believes that every setback can lead to something better.

The actor, who was last seen in De De Pyaar De 2 in November 2025, has several projects lined up. He is preparing for a busy year with two web series followed by a film. Despite the upcoming opportunities, Meezaan says he does not believe in rushing through his professional journey.

Meezaan Jafri Believes Every Setback Has a Purpose

Sharing his outlook on professional disappointments, Meezaan said he believes that when something does not work out, it happens for his betterment.

He explained that he does not compare his career with anyone else's because every individual has a different journey and faces different challenges.

Speaking about the difficulties of navigating the entertainment industry, the actor said, "It's difficult and it will always be difficult."

He added that even established stars such as Shah Rukh Khan continue to face professional challenges. According to Meezaan, everyone is constantly evolving and fighting their own battles, regardless of how successful they become.

His perspective reflects an approach built around patience rather than constant comparison. Instead of worrying about missed opportunities, he chooses to believe that something better may be waiting ahead.

Why Meezaan Jafri Is Selective About His Projects

Meezaan also discussed his approach to choosing films and other acting assignments. The actor said he has been selective about the projects he takes up and does not want to accept work merely to maintain visibility.

For him, choosing the right script and finding opportunities that allow him to grow as an actor are more important than remaining constantly in the news.

The entertainment industry is highly competitive, and actors often face pressure to maintain a steady presence through films, interviews and public appearances. Meezaan, however, appears comfortable taking his time.

His approach also reflects his understanding that a long-term acting career cannot be built simply by taking up every available opportunity. He wants his work to speak for itself and help him establish a distinct identity.

Two Web Series and a Film in the Pipeline

Meezaan Jafri is now preparing for an active phase in his career. As revealed in the interview, he has two web series lined up, followed by a film.

One of the upcoming projects generating interest is a romantic action series directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, in which he is set to star opposite Medha Shankar. The project is expected to mark an important step in his move towards web series, although further details about its storyline and release plans are awaited.

The actor's upcoming work could give audiences an opportunity to see him explore different characters and genres beyond his previous theatrical releases.

Meezaan made his Bollywood debut with Malaal in 2019, directed by Mangesh Hadawale. The romantic drama also marked the acting debut of Sharmin Segal.

He subsequently appeared in films such as Hungama 2 and Yaariyan 2. In De De Pyaar De 2, he shared screen space with Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and R Madhavan.

Being the son of actor and comedian Jaaved Jaaferi and grandson of the late legendary comedian Jagdeep, Meezaan comes from a family with a long association with the entertainment industry. However, he is keen to establish his own identity through his performances.

In earlier conversations, he has also spoken about the assumptions surrounding actors from film families and the pressure that comes with expectations.

Meezaan Jafri Chooses Growth Over Comparison

Meezaan's latest comments offer a glimpse into how he views success and failure. Rather than measuring his progress against established actors or contemporaries, he believes in focusing on his own development.

His reference to Shah Rukh Khan also highlights his view that professional challenges do not disappear with success. Every stage of an acting career brings new expectations, responsibilities and opportunities to learn.

With two web series and a film in the pipeline, Meezaan is entering a promising phase. Whether these projects become major milestones remains to be seen, but the actor appears determined to move forward at his own pace.

For now, his message is simple: not every opportunity will work out, but that does not mean the next one will not be better.
