Love & War: Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal War Portions Get Another Shoot

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has returned to the sets of Love & War just weeks after the film wrapped. The filmmaker is reportedly shooting additional portions of the crucial war sequences after reviewing the footage and feeling that certain battle scenes could be enhanced further. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited Love & War has officially wrapped its main shoot, but the filmmaker is not quite ready to leave the sets behind. Just three weeks after the reported wrap, Bhansali has returned to filming additional portions of the movie’s crucial war sequences.

The period drama stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles and is currently in the post-production phase. However, Bhansali has reportedly decided to revisit some of the battle portions after reviewing the footage.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali Returns to the Sets

According to a report by Mid-Day, Bhansali is spending around a week shooting additional battle sequences at Welcome Maidaan in Goregaon. The filmmaker is personally overseeing the shoot as he works simultaneously on the film’s edit.

The additional filming is reportedly not a replacement of the material already shot. Instead, the team is said to be adding and refining certain portions of the sequences to strengthen their overall impact.

Bhansali is known for paying close attention to the visual and emotional details of his films, and the latest schedule appears to be part of that process.

Why Are the War Scenes Being Shot Again?

The war sequences are considered an important component of Love & War, which combines a romantic storyline with a large-scale war backdrop.

After watching the material in the edit, Bhansali reportedly felt that certain battle portions could be enhanced further. The additional shoot is therefore aimed at perfecting the sequences rather than changing the film’s overall narrative.

The war portions are expected to play an important role in the film’s emotional arc, making their presentation particularly significant for the filmmaker.

Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal’s Film

Love & War brings together Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal for a story set against the backdrop of war and romance.

Ranbir and Vicky play characters connected to the film’s military setting, while Alia is at the centre of the emotional storyline. The project marks another collaboration between Ranbir and Bhansali after their 2007 film Saawariya.

Bhansali is also reuniting with Alia after Gangubai Kathiawadi, while his collaboration with Vicky adds another major actor to the director’s cinematic world.

The Film Has Seen Several Schedule Changes

The production of Love & War has undergone multiple schedule changes since filming began. Earlier in the year, reports indicated that the project had faced delays because of the packed schedules of its lead actors.

The team eventually moved through its final shooting phase, with the main shoot reportedly concluding in early September. A wrap-up report also confirmed that the film had completed its principal photography before entering post-production.

The latest additional shoot now shows that Bhansali is continuing to fine-tune the project even after the formal wrap.

Another Song Has Been Deferred

Along with the additional war shoot, there had reportedly been plans for another song sequence. However, that plan has now been deferred indefinitely.

The focus at present appears to be on completing the additional battle footage while Bhansali continues working on the final edit.

This approach could allow the filmmaker to strengthen the film’s major sequences before the promotional campaign begins.

Love & War Release Date

Love & War is expected to arrive in theatres on January 21, 2027. The film is one of the most anticipated Hindi releases because of its combination of Bhansali’s direction and the casting of Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal.

With the additional war portions now being filmed, the production team is moving closer to locking the final version of the movie.

The next major phase will be the promotional campaign, including the teaser and trailer. Until then, Bhansali appears focused on making sure the film’s war sequences deliver the scale and emotional intensity he expects from the project.
