Kareena Kapoor Visits Sanjay Leela Bhansali Amid Reunion Buzz

Kareena Kapoor Khan was spotted at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Mumbai office nearly 25 years after their reported fallout over Devdas, sparking fresh speculation about their first collaboration.

Kareena Kapoor Khan has sparked fresh excitement in Bollywood after being spotted visiting filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office in Mumbai. The actress was seen arriving at the filmmaker’s office on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, nearly 25 years after their much-discussed professional fallout.

The unexpected meeting has immediately raised speculation that Kareena and Bhansali could finally be preparing to work together. While there is no official confirmation that Kareena has signed a project with the filmmaker, their latest meeting comes at a significant time, as Bhansali has reportedly approached her for an upcoming film starring Dhanush.

Kareena Kapoor Spotted at Bhansali’s Office

Kareena was spotted outside Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Mumbai office on September 8. In videos and photographs circulating online, the actress was seen wearing a pastel blue suit as she arrived at the filmmaker’s premises.

The visit attracted attention because Kareena and Bhansali have never collaborated on a completed film despite their association dating back to the early 2000s.

Neither Kareena nor Bhansali has officially revealed the reason for the meeting. However, the timing has fuelled speculation that discussions could be connected to the filmmaker’s upcoming project with Dhanush.

What Happened Between Kareena and Bhansali?

The reported fallout between Kareena and Bhansali dates back to Devdas, released in 2002.

Kareena had reportedly screen-tested for the role of Paro and was initially considered for the part. However, Bhansali eventually cast Aishwarya Rai Bachchan opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the film.

The decision reportedly left Kareena disappointed, particularly because she was at an early stage of her career at the time.

Kareena later spoke openly about the episode and expressed her anger over being dropped after the screen test. She had even said that she would never work with Bhansali. Bhansali, on the other hand, reportedly maintained that the screen test did not guarantee that Kareena would ultimately be cast.

Could Kareena and Bhansali Finally Work Together?

The latest development has naturally revived questions about whether the long-standing professional distance between the two has finally ended.

Industry reports previously suggested that Bhansali had approached Kareena for the female lead in his upcoming project starring Dhanush. The role is reportedly substantial and is expected to have significant importance alongside the male protagonist.

In August, director P. S. Mithran confirmed that discussions involving Kareena and Dhanush were underway, although dates and other details were still being worked out.

Kareena's latest visit to Bhansali's office therefore adds further intrigue, although it should not yet be treated as confirmation that she has signed the film.

Dhanush Film Is Reportedly a Mythological Adventure

The project being discussed is reportedly an ambitious mythological jungle-set adventure featuring Dhanush in the lead.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is expected to produce the project, while Tamil filmmaker P. S. Mithran is attached as director. Reports have suggested that the story will feature strong mythological elements and an elephant will play an important role in the narrative.

The film is currently in development, with reports indicating that writing and pre-production work are underway. Principal photography has been reported to be planned for 2027, although the schedule could change.

Kareena Has Reportedly Shown Interest

Earlier reports suggested that Kareena has shown interest in the project, but she had not formally signed the film.

Discussions were reportedly taking place around dates, remuneration and other contractual details. The actress's availability is particularly important because the project is expected to require an extensive shooting schedule.

If Kareena eventually comes on board, the film would mark her first collaboration with Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

That would make the project particularly notable given their long history and the fact that their professional relationship began with the unsuccessful Devdas casting episode.

A 25-Year Professional Gap Could End

Kareena and Bhansali have both enjoyed highly successful careers since the Devdas controversy.

Kareena went on to establish herself as one of Hindi cinema's leading actresses, delivering acclaimed performances in films such as Jab We Met, Chameli, Omkara, Talaash and Udta Punjab, among many others.

Bhansali, meanwhile, became one of India's most prominent filmmakers, directing films including Black, Guzaarish, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Gangubai Kathiawadi.

Despite their individual successes, the two never managed to collaborate on a film.

If the Dhanush project becomes official, it would represent a significant change in their professional equation after more than two decades.

Kareena’s Next Release Is Daayra

While speculation around the Bhansali project continues, Kareena is currently gearing up for the release of Daayra.

The Meghna Gulzar-directed crime thriller stars Kareena alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and is scheduled to release on September 18, 2026.

Kareena will reportedly play a police officer in the film, adding another serious role to her recent filmography.

No Official Confirmation Yet

For now, Kareena Kapoor's visit to Sanjay Leela Bhansali's office remains the biggest clue that has reignited speculation about their possible collaboration.

The meeting could be related to the reported Dhanush project, but neither Kareena nor Bhansali has officially confirmed that she has signed the film.

If the collaboration does happen, however, it would turn a nearly 25-year-old Bollywood story into a potentially significant reunion—and finally bring Kareena Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bhansali together on screen history's long-awaited first project.
