Being married to another actor can have its advantages, but Kareena Kapoor Khan says it can also lead to plenty of disagreements at home.
The actress recently opened up about her professional equation with husband Saif Ali Khan, revealing that the two often end up arguing when they discuss each other’s work. According to Kareena, the reason is simple: they have very different approaches to acting.
Speaking at the latest edition of Expresso by SCREEN, Kareena said that she is more instinctive when approaching a role, while Saif prefers to prepare extensively before stepping into a character.
“We always end up fighting,” Kareena said while discussing what happens when two actors share the same home.
She explained that there are times when she may dislike one of Saif’s promos, while he may not necessarily approve of something she has done. Their differences, however, appear to be rooted more in their contrasting creative approaches than in any serious disagreement.
Kareena Calls Herself More Instinctive
Kareena described herself as an actor who likes to respond instinctively to a role.
According to the actress, she prefers to switch between her professional and personal spaces rather than constantly staying immersed in a character. Saif, on the other hand, takes a more detailed route.
“He will read a lot more and get into it,” Kareena explained, referring to her husband's preparation process. She added that she prefers being able to switch “on and off” when it comes to work.
The difference perhaps explains why the couple can sometimes arrive at completely different opinions about scripts, performances and promotional material.
Both have spent decades in the film industry, but their careers have followed noticeably different paths. Kareena has worked across commercial entertainers, dramas, thrillers and more character-driven projects, while Saif has increasingly explored varied and unconventional roles.
They Try Not to Interfere Too Much in Each Other’s Work
Kareena has previously spoken about how carefully she and Saif approach professional criticism at home.
In an earlier conversation, she revealed that Saif sometimes calls her “too hardcore” when she strongly dislikes a script he is considering. She said the two have learned that they need to be careful while discussing each other’s work because actors can be sensitive about their films and performances.
That does not mean they completely avoid giving each other opinions.
Instead, Kareena suggested that both understand when it is better to step back and allow the other person to make their own decision.

Kareena also recalled a funny incident involving Saif and the promotional material for Daayra.
The actress revealed that Saif had been giving his opinion about the colour of the film's poster. Kareena, apparently not wanting her husband to get too involved in that particular creative decision, jokingly told him to communicate his thoughts directly to Meghna Gulzar instead.
The anecdote gave audiences a glimpse into how the couple's professional conversations can play out behind closed doors.
While both understand filmmaking and acting, Kareena made it clear that they do not necessarily have identical creative instincts.
Kareena’s Next Film Is Daayra
Kareena is currently gearing up for the release of Daayra, her first collaboration with filmmaker Meghna Gulzar.
The film also stars Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, with the two actors playing police officers. The thriller is inspired by true events and explores questions surrounding the justice system and the way authorities respond to a serious criminal case.
The film is backed by Junglee Pictures and Pen Studios and is scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 18, 2026.
For Kareena, the project represents another move towards stories that give her opportunities to explore more layered characters.

During the same conversation, Kareena also spoke warmly about her sister Karisma Kapoor and the influence she has had on her career.
Kareena credited Karisma with teaching her the importance of hard work and perseverance. She recalled how Karisma's generation of actors had to constantly push themselves and prove their place in the industry during the 1990s.
According to Kareena, one lesson her sister has consistently given her is not to lose faith in herself regardless of how successful or established she becomes.
The comment also reflects Kareena's own long journey in Bollywood, where she has remained one of the industry's prominent leading actors for more than two decades.
