A four-time National Award-winning actress, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up to grace the big screens portraying the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Kangana, who helms the political drama “Emergency,” aims to present a realistic perspective on history through this film. Additionally, she emphasized her endeavor to depict Indira Gandhi with honesty and integrity. In a recent interview, Kangana also shared her viewpoints on women’s issues and her perspective for the film.
Speaking about “Emergency,” Kangana stated, “As I have always said, whether it’s Indira Gandhi or any other woman, I have great empathy for women. I cannot fake it, and I genuinely have respect for women. That’s why I have worked hard for them. I have made a film based on the life of Indira Gandhi, and when you are an artist, everything serves as inspiration. Keeping those emotions in mind, I made the film. Therefore, I believe that when it is released, everyone will appreciate it. They should view it as an entertaining film. We should focus on the reasons behind the incidents that occurred with our constitution to prevent any interference in the future. We should contemplate a leader’s credibility, hidden security, insecurity, power, or weakness. That’s why I made this film.”
Directed and written by Kangana Ranaut, “Emergency” also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishakha Nayar, and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. The film, produced by Zee Studios and Manikarnika Films, features music by Sanchit Balhara and screenplay and dialogues by Ritesh Shah. “Emergency” is slated to hit theaters on June 14. It’s worth mentioning that Kangana Ranaut is contesting elections from the Mandi Lok Sabha constituency in Himachal Pradesh on a BJP ticket.
