Harshita Gaur Wants a Different Role With Ali Fazal

Harshita Gaur has played Dimpy Pandit since the first season of Mirzapur. Ali Fazal, meanwhile, plays her elder brother Guddu Pandit. Their relationship has remained an important part of the franchise, making the two actors strongly associated with the brother-sister equation.

However, Harshita now wants to break away from that image.

Speaking about her wish to work with Ali again, the actress said she would like to share a romantic scene with him in a different project. Her frustration is not about Mirzapur itself but about being seen almost exclusively through the lens of their characters from the show.

She explained that the brother-sister image has become so strong after several years that she wonders whether audiences can even imagine the two actors playing romantic characters together.

Why the Brother-Sister Image Has Become So Strong

The association between Harshita and Ali is understandable. They have appeared together across multiple seasons of Mirzapur, with Dimpy and Guddu's relationship forming part of the Pandit family's story.

Harshita has previously spoken warmly about her equation with Ali. In a 2020 interview with India Today, she said that after working together for another season, Ali had almost become a real-life brother figure to her. She also described him as caring and said he would look after her on set.

That off-screen equation has continued. In her latest comments, Harshita again acknowledged that their real-life bond is also quite similar to the sibling dynamic audiences see on screen. She said Ali takes care of her and often pulls her leg.

Harshita reprises Dimpy Pandit, while Ali returns as Guddu Pandit. The film brings several familiar characters from the popular crime franchise to the big screen, with the story set around the timeline of the first season.

The movie also features Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya, Shweta Tripathi Sharma as Golu Gupta and Jitendra Kumar as Bablu Pandit. The latter takes over the role previously played by Vikrant Massey in Season 1.

Harshita Gaur's Career Beyond Dimpy Pandit

While Dimpy remains Harshita's best-known role, the actress had already built a career in television before entering the Mirzapur universe.

She became widely known through the youth drama Sadda Haq, after which Mirzapur gave her a much larger audience. Interestingly, Harshita previously revealed that she initially rejected the offer to play Dimpy because she had limited understanding of the emerging OTT space at the time.

She eventually reconsidered after Gurmeet Singh narrated a scene involving Dimpy's response during an attack by Munna. Looking back, she has described accepting the role as one of the best decisions of her career.

Could Harshita and Ali Ever Play Lovers?

For now, there is no announced project that pairs Harshita Gaur and Ali Fazal romantically. Her comments are simply an expression of the kind of role she would like to explore with her longtime co-star.

Given how firmly audiences associate the two with Dimpy and Guddu, such casting would certainly require a major shift in perception.

For Harshita, however, the appeal appears to be about showing another side of their acting range. After years of playing siblings in Mirzapur, she wants the opportunity to work with Ali in a story where audiences can see them as completely different characters.
