Govinda revealed that Sunita expressed her love for him when she was only 15. At that time, he told her that she was too young to talk about such things. Sunita responded by saying, “Yes, I know everything, and I want to say… I love you.”

Govinda also shared how their romance began. He mentioned that during weddings or events, they would often dance together. One day, after an event, they were driving back, and Sunita’s hand brushed against his. Govinda felt that Sunita’s hand lingered, and she eventually held his hand. He thought to himself, “I’m a Punjabi man; if the hand is held, let it be held.” It was in that car that they first expressed their love for each other.
Govinda and Sunita got married on March 11, 1987, when Govinda was 24 and Sunita was 18. Their love story continues to be an inspiring example of young romance blossoming into a lifelong partnership.
